Internal/External Vacancy DIVISION: REGISTRAR POST: ASSISTANT REGISTRAR DEPARTMENT: STRATEGIC ENROLMENT MANAGEMENT POST NO: 3033 PEROMNES GRADE:08 JOB DESCRIPTION: BUSINESS PROCESS ENGINEER The purpose of the job is to maintain the VUT academic structure in order to facilitate the effective admissions, registrations, assessment and provide assistance in the graduation processes of the University. Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to: • Academic structure maintenance and management, i.e. point of entry for all formally approved changes and additions to the academic structure • Coordinate the capturing of information pertaining to certificates and short courses on the academic structure • Setting-up of the business rules for all qualifications on the student system. Including and not limited to:
• Coordinate activities in all relevant divisions that use the academic structure • Assist with the extraction, interpretation and reporting of ad hoc requests • Assistance with the development of the teaching timetable • Benchmarking analyses with peer institutions to stay abreast of best practices on the maintenance of the academic structure • Work closely with the Assistant Registrars’ in the Department to ensure that there is proper coordination of all processes and functions of the Department • Liaise with the Institutional Planning (IPU) Department regarding HEMIS processes and requirements • Liaise with the Programme Accreditation and Curriculum Development (PACD) Department on accredited programmes to be captured on the academic structure • Provide assistance to the Exam Department (Graduation Office) with the graduation processes where required. APPLICATION CRITERIA: Qualification and Experience: • M+4 or equivalent qualification (example: Honours degree or BTech) • Minimum 5 years academic structure development, maintenance, and management experience • Computer Literacy and high level of ITS (Integrator 4) system knowledge • 5 years relevant experience of Higher Education legislation with particular emphasis Higher Education Management System (HEMIS) protocols. Internal/External Vacancy DIVISION: DEPARTMENT: IT Services POST: Network Analyst POST No: 0906 PEROMNES GRADE: 07 JOB DESCRIPTION: Key performance areas include but are not limited to: • Install and configure servers and devices • Identify and analyse Network related problems • Troubleshoot network related problems effectively • Trace network problems and provide resolutions • Perform campus network system administration • Recommend enhancements on network performance • Provide reporting charts on capacity levels of network • Research new trends • Configure Network protocols and standards on Wi-Fi servers • Recommend security enhancements on network performance • Upgrade network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases APPLICATION CRITERIA: Qualification and Experience: • 3 Year IT diploma or related Degree • CCNA or Network • Optical Fiber training • Aruba certifications an added advantage • 7 years’ experience in wired and wireless environments • Drivers license Skills and Competencies: • Ability to work under pressure, deadline driven and multi-tasking • Ability to analyse network problems including fault isolation, problem resolution and service restoration • Expert knowledge in TCP/IP Suite, DHCP, 802.11x, and Domain Name Service (DNS) • Thorough understanding of OSI levels • Good communication skills • Understanding of Aruba support tools, techniques and how technology is used to provide continuous connectivity for University staff and students • Team player Closing date for applications: 18 May 2023 Submit CV to [email protected]. Internal/External Vacancy DIVISION: DEPARTMENT: IT Services POST: Senior Database Administrator POST No: 0998 PEROMNES GRADE: 07 JOB DESCRIPTION: Key performance areas include but are not limited to: • Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing and production usage • Works closely with system administration and system analyst for support ofapplications utilizing Oracle, MS SQL and MySQL databases, MariaDB and Galera Clusters • Plans and implements security procedures, backup and recovery of supported databases • Controls migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle • Schedule DR tests, and document test results • Enforces and maintains database constraints to ensure integrity of the database • Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures • The DBA has ultimate responsibility for the physical database design • Gather requirements from clients and to perform Information planning • Improving current business processes in place • Performing cost benefit analysis for alternative solutions or applications • System evaluation and feasibility studies on existing systems • Ensure compliance with industry standards • Perform vulnerability assessments on databases • Improve security of databases • Researching on new technologies • Determining design methodologies and design tools • Prototyping solutions or applications for feasibility studies • Creating and Maintaining Datawarehouse • Creating Reports and Dashboards, and Scheduling of Reports APPLICATION CRITERIA: Qualification and Experience: • B Tech/Honours IT Qualification or equivalent • Oracle Certified Associate DBA (Advantage) • Certification in ITIL Foundation (Advantage) • Certification in Cobit Foundation (Advantage) • Certification in Project Management (Advantage) • 4 years Oracle experience (PL/SQL and Administration) • 3 years of MySQL database administration experience • 2 years Business Intelligence/Reporting (e.g Jasper) • 5 years experience on Linux/Unix Operating systems • 4 years ERP (e.g Integrated Tertiary Software) Technical Experience (Advantage), and Load Balancing and Clustering of Databases (Advantage). Skills and Competencies: • A good knowledge of the Linux and Unix operating systems • Ability to perform both Oracle and also operating system performance monitoring and the necessary adjustments • Be able to provide a strategic database direction for the organization • Excellent knowledge of Oracle/MySQL backup and recovery scenarios • A good knowledge of Oracle security management • A good knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages resources • A DBA should have sound communication skills with management, development teams, vendors, systems administrators and other related service providers • Strong experience with various MySQL and open-source monitoring tools in addition to writing custom database-monitoring scripts • Strong experience securing MySQL databases and implementing additional security best practices • Experience with various features of Oracle and MySQL; like replication, partitioning, clustering etc. Closing date for applications: 18 May 2023 Submit CV to [email protected].
