AREA INNOVATION MANAGER (EKASILABS - SOWETO/KAGISO) (Permanent contract with three months’ probation, Patterson Grade D2 Salary-R 796 068.00 Cost to Company) Reporting directing to the General Manager: eKasiLabs the successful incumbent will be responsible to provide commercialisation support, business support, benchmarking and participating in events, conferences for technology innovations emerging from startups companies in township incubator. The deliverables are as follows. • Management of programmes and /or projects involving the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Gauteng City Region (GCR). • Lead the implementation of organisational business incubation and innovation strategy relating to the Gauteng City Region (GCR). • Assist in conceptualising and development of Gauteng City Region (GCR) sector / industry specific projects. • Provide strategic support to eKasiLabs BDO in developing incubation programmes and activities. • Allocate resources management, are budgets, are risk management, and maintain effective and efficient management control of the area incubation activities. • Assist entrepreneurs in technical evaluations, fund raising as well as relevant linkages to established companies for business development opportunities. • Assist in preparation of value proposition and investment cases for Investment Committee in support of funding for start-up companies. • Assist the GM in fund raising and recruitment of stakeholders for area enterprise development. • Advise project team and start-ups incubated on business risk inherent in the supported projects and strategies to mitigate the impact. • Assess regulatory (policies) frameworks and market issues to evaluate competitive dynamics of various resource options that may affect the core business operations. • Ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements, including finance and procurement procedures of both the government of South Africa and other industry and regional bodies. • Produce regular progress reports and update operational plans. • Promote collaboration within and across TIHMC’s business incubators. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for this position, candidates need to be in possession of a post graduate degree in a technical or/and with business or entrepreneurship qualification; Masters will be an added advantage. At least 5 years’ experience in economic development, innovation management and/ or strategy, policy, and management consulting, and possess in-depth knowledge on contemporary issues pertaining to economic development, innovation management and enterprise development. The candidate must have strong organisational skills (able to manage various tasks and projects simultaneously), business and entrepreneurial acumen; the ability to foster, nurture and encourage growth amongst the entrepreneur and the business. The deliverables are as follows: • Writing and Proof-reading Content for the production of relevant publications and related communications materials for corporate publications, proof reading and editing of invites, call for entries and any comms related copies. • Drafting of content for internal electronic newsletter and quarterly external newsletter • Day to day management of various social media platforms to effectively disseminate information and engage the public with the objective of raising the visibility of / and positioning The Innovation Hub as a leader within the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystems, • Working closely with start-up companies and tenants to profile their businesses on social media, website profiling and media. • Assist in drafting of copy invitations for events. • Collation of content from programmes and entrepreneurs for maintenance and updating of the website. • Assist in maintaining the media database and media relations including major national, international, and local research media houses. • Coordinating media attendance with the PR agency for PR Coverage of events, organisational initiatives, and programme beneficiaries. • Assist in drafting of speeches, briefing notes for Political principals, Executives, and Board Members for events. • Maintaining a successful interface between The Innovation Hub, GGDA, government and industry, and building strong links and strategic partners. • Issuing Internal communications updates about The Innovation Hub’s opportunities to the Precinct companies and internal employees. • Attend to email and social media log in enquiries and providing responses thereof. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for this exciting position, candidates need to be in possession of a relevant graduate degree, in journalism, communications or public relations and internal communications. At least 3 years relevant experience.
