COURT INTERPRETER (3 YEAR CONTRACT) MUNICIPAL COURT CORPORATE SERVICES Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 • minimum of 3 years practical experience in Interpreting environment Other Requirements: Proficiency in English and one or more of the languages of the Western Cape; A valid driver’s license and knowledge of any foreign language or sign language will be an added advantage; Responsibilities/Duties: Render Interpreting services in municipal court, interpreting during consultation; Interpret and translate into verbal communication (From English to Xhosa and Afrikaans and vice versa) to all parties involved in the court proceedings, Interpret and translate into verbal communication all court documentation/correspondence to the parties involved where required. Attend any consultation or per-hearing meeting where the services of an Interpreter are required, Interpret all documentation (dockets, warrants and charge sheets). Assist with telephone enquiries and counter duties where the duties of an Interpreter are required. Assist with reconstruction of court records. The processing of all admission of guilt court payments which includes the preparation and matching of all necessary documents for Magistrate’s signature (J114 register), Ensure case numbers are allocated to each case as per the specified general case category. Writing up of remanded cases for Courts ( warnings, remands and J534), Update the Deferred Fines Register, All administration pertaining to warrants of arrest, Receipt and recording of all by-law contraventions cases, Responsible for all administrative duties related to administration of Traffic fines• Data Processing of all handwritten section 341 and section 56 cases• Verification of speed offences generate section 54 notices on Contravention system• Generate, print and process of court section documents and notices• Perform Cashier • Allocate summonses and warrants to sheriff and company contracted to serve summonses• • Ensure Legislative compliance• Comply to health & safety requirements• Capture payments on Flexgen, Processing of all postal and warrant payments, Capturing of off-line payments.
