RESEARCH TECHNOLOGIST: DATA COORDINATOR Duration: One - Year Contract The HIV and Other Infectious Diseases Research Unit (HIDRU) seeks to appoint a Data Coordinator to conduct data management and quality control of data at the Clinical Research Sites within the Durban region, to ensure compliance with SA and ICH GCP and HSP requirements. Data Coordination activities will include working within the framework of approved protocols and regulatory documentation. Responsibilities: • Ensure optimum data quality in clinical trial research documentation (source, CRFs and Electronic Data Capture System) • Quality Control of all study documentation including informed consent process. Maintain QC rate within acceptable levels across multiple studies. • Perform regular data checks on the database and generate data reports. PROJECT LEADER - WHO-FIC COLLABORATING CENTRE Duration: 1 year contract | Appointment on a part-time basis (minimum 60%) could be considered The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) is seeking to appoint a Project Leader to ensure the sustainability of the WHO Collaborating Centre for the Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC CC) in its Burden of Disease Research Unit (BODRU). BODRU collects and analyses data on South Africa’s health status to estimate and monitor the burden of disease (the impact of health problems) and factors associated with the health of the population. The Unit provides information on the trends in the country’s health status as well as causes of disease and death for future planning to improve the health of the nation. It has developed exceptional expertise in summary health measures, health surveys, clinical classification, and mortality data and health informatics analysis. The successful candidate will be required to provide public health research and training expertise related to clinical coding across selected projects in BODRU, and contribute to management and coordination of the WHO-FIC Collaborating Centre. The post holder must actively contribute to the SAMRC’s transformation agenda. Responsibilities: • To build networks and facilitate contributions to the development and maintenance of the WHO-FIC core member classifications (ICD, ICHI, ICF). • To advise on adherence to ICD-10 and ICD-11 coding principles when carrying out morbidity/mortality coding across collaborative projects. • To participate in activities of the international network of WHO-FIC collaborating centres on behalf of the CC. • To contribute to health research and training projects related to clinical coding using the WHO-FIC classifications. • To lead and/or contribute to papers for publication in national and international peer-reviewed journals. • To disseminate research findings through national and international conference presentations, webinars, infographics and data visualisation.
