NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR COMPANY DEPARTMENT: South African Civil Aviation Authority Information and Communication Technology REFERENCE #: Network Administrator CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent SALARY: Market Related LOCATION: Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa INTRODUCTION Maintain and support the SACAA (head office and branches) including data centre, network infrastructure, server infrastructure, and patch management on all ICT-related infrastructure concerning performance, availability, and security. SPECIFICATION ENSURING AVAILABLITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SERVER INFRASTRUCTURE AND NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE • Monitor server and network environment (LAN/WAN/SAN) to ensure optimum operation. • Ensure that the operating systems are correctly installed and configured and that all necessary patches are installed. • Monitor current and anticipated system demand versus capacity and make recommendations concerning system expansion so that the organization has sufficient capabilities to meet business requirements. • Ensure all software and firmware patches are applied according to the SACAA patch management strategy - on all applications, operating systems, and infrastructure. • Monitor network performance and integrity. ICT INFRASTRUCTURE SECURITY • To proactively monitor and maintain the active directory environment. • Ensure that all required security patches, antivirus, and malware protection are in place and operating optimally. • Conform to and apply accepted password protection processes. • Setup and maintain firewalls and Web Security to exclude unauthorized users from the SACAA network. AZURE AND OFFICE 365 SERVICES • Configure, and maintain various Azure SaaS Cloud Services such as Azure AD, AIP, ATP, ASR, CAS, EM+S, Teams, Intune, AAD Connect, Exchange Online and O365. • Deploy and maintain Azure IaaS Virtual Machines and Azure Application and Networking Services to support growth into the cloud. • Recommend, develop, plan, manage, implement, and fully document IT projects. • Research products and new technologies to increase the efficiency of business and operations. NETWORKS (LAN/WAN) AND SERVER ENVIRONMENT • Configure and maintain a data centre, branch, and head office networking, and equipment. • Ensure optimization of all LAN & WAN infrastructures to ensure continuous, cost-effective, and quality service. • Ensure that the operating systems are correctly installed and configured and that all necessary patches are installed. • Manages the core network infrastructure environment, including FortiGate firewall, and switches day-to-day administration. ADMINISTRATION, REPORTING, AND DOCUMENTATION • Develop and provide periodic reports to management on the availability and capacity of all servers, and disk usage including associated or peripheral infrastructure and networks under your control. • Ensure that all required system configuration and process documentation within the area of responsibility is kept up to date. • Recommend improvements to departmental policies and procedures so that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled. • Develop and provide periodic reports to management on the status of patch and firmware levels of all servers, desktops, and peripheral infrastructure under your control. • Monitor patch releases to ensure any critical patches are applied as soon as possible.
