The incumbent will report to the Transport Manager in the IFM Department. Primary purpose of the position: The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the transport workshop staff, coordinate, supervise and participate in the repair and servicing of all RIM Fleet (buses, trucks, bakkies etc.) and any other petrol and diesel powered automotive equipment in accordance with legislative requirements. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned personnel. • Assign, supervise and participate in major and minor mechanical repairs on buses and other vehicles; diagnose diesel internal combustion engine maintenance problems. • Diagnose, supervise and participate in skilled and semi-skilled repairs of mechanical defects in buses, vehicles, trucks and other petrol and diesel-powered automotive equipment. • Control the Workshop Management System by scheduling and recording the allocation of jobs, monitoring timely, cost effective repairs and workshop budget and expenditure to facilitate accurate Fleet maintenance records. • Determine priority of work orders and their assignment to personnel; plan, organize and schedule work flow as assigned; advise and assist assigned personnel; assure timely completion of work. • Maintain records and reports as necessary. • Establish and implement RIM Transport policies and standard operating procedures • Documenting employee performance and ensuring that employees adhere to safety standards on roadways • Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections with Health and Safety Officer. • Documenting all transportation activities in a database, and making sure all vehicles are in proper working order. • Monitor tools inventory, tool room equipment, maintenance and safety practices. • Act as Representative Proxy with the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Department (requirement with the City for licensing) • Monitor and attend to tour operations on a daily basis to ensure that the buses and vehicles are clean, safe and sufficient for tours. • Ensure buses and vehicles are fuelled by the drivers as per the schedule and ready for operations • Manage the issuing and allocation of buses and vehicles in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures. • Investigate RIM vehicle accidents and incidents, determine root cause, and develop corrective action plans, complete insurance claim forms, ensuring that the necessary police affidavits are in place as well as case numbers are obtained. • Assisting on weekends operations with tours department Minimum requirements: • National Diploma in Transport Management or National Certificate in Motor Mechanics (N3) with a Trade test in Diesel Mechanics • Two (2) to three (3) years of relevant work experience in the field or related area, with a proven track record in scheduling and supervision. • Valid driver’s License (Code EC1, Or EC) with valid PDP • 3 years’ driving experience on light and heavy vehicles e.g. Crane and JCB • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations in transport • Knowledge of OHS Act, COIDA, SANS • Knowledge of ISO 18001 and ISO 9001. The incumbent will report to the Senior Manager: IFM Primary purpose of the position: The SHEQ Officer will be responsible for Occupational Health and Safety Compliance, including quality management in terms of OHS and Environmental compliance at Robben Island Museum. Their role will be to ensure that there is a safe working environment for RIM employees, visitors of Robben Island, contractors and other relevant parties.
