Preferred Body / Association: • Institute of Directors • Chartered Institute of Secretaries • Any appropriate institution or body Minimum Technical Requirements: • ESG due diligence knowledge/experience • Working knowledge of BBBEE requirements and compliance • Deep understanding of the Investment management industry, financial markets and financial instruments • General Research Experience • Quantitative and Qualitative Data Experience • Knowledge of the standard ethical investing requirements and principles • Data collection, capturing, interpretation, enhancement and management experience • Social impact assessment (summative and formative) • Portfolio monitoring • Excellent Understanding of ESG principles • Good Writing and verbal communication skills • Research skills • Understanding of Environmental, and/or social legislative framework • Understanding of Corporate governance and its principles • Good understanding of capital markets and the investment management industry • MS Office proficiency Duties: • Working collaboratively with other investment teams to support the implementation of PIC’s commitment to ESG integration in investment processes in unlisted investments. • Ensure the ESG principles, plans and issues are adopted in the investment decision-making process and enforce compliance in line with the approved ESG governance framework • Assess and rate companies from an ESG impact perspective. Analyse and measure factors in business models, products and services that enable long term environmental and social impact returns, while enhancing governance performance. • Formulate comprehensive ESG impact investment cases, reflecting both the financial and ESG aspects of any recommendation. • Assist with conducting engagements with companies on ESG performance • Assist with conducting ESG due diligence to support the selection of investment opportunities and portfolio investee companies • Conduct periodic impact analysis and performance • Conduct and support ESG research, on applicable topics • Support other teams with understanding and presenting ESG strategies. • Contribute in developing user-friendly matrices for management of ESG Data – preferred skill set • Innovative ESG reporting methodologies – preferred skill set • Report on ESG performance, plans and issues as required by business and stakeholders • Provide in depth and creative analysis of ESG and global mega trends impact themes, evaluate its market potential, and define metrics that can be used to measure and report on the impact on environment and surrounding communities (contribution to the SDGs). Applications are invited from dynamic individuals for the following challenging position: SENIOR COMPLIANCE OFFICER (LEGAL REGULATORY) (RE-ADVERTISEMENT) Job Grade: D3 – D5 (Ref: SCOLR) Salary: All-inclusive remuneration package negotiable Division: Compliance Purpose of the role: To assist the business in managing compliance risk and providing assurance to Management, Board, and Regulators that the PIC is aware of and takes steps to comply with legislation, regulations, policies, processes and best practice relevant to the PIC. Requirements: • An Honours Degree in Law, Commerce or equivalent related qualification • FSCA approval as FAIS Compliance Officer is an added advantage • At least 4 – 6 years relevant compliance experience in the Financial Sector preferably in the investment management industry and/ or unlisted investments • Registered Persons Exams (RPE) certificates for JSE Compliance Officers is an added advantage • RE1, RE 3 and RE 5 certificates or obtain within 6 months of appointment to the role Duties: • Identify, review and maintain the PIC regulatory universe, including risk rating of these legislations in terms of their impact on PIC operations • Drafting and maintenance of compliance risk management plans (CRMPs) in respect of legislations applicable to PIC and assist business in ensuring that controls in place address all sections/ provisions of legislative requirements • To provide inputs into the interpretation of applicable legislative requirements and PIC policies • Assist business with the development and review of policies, procedures, frameworks and guidelines • Provide compliance opinions, guidance and advisory to business on regulatory requirements • To provide/ facilitate compliance training on legislative and policies requirements to business • To assist with the development, maintenance and implementation of the compliance policies and procedures • Advise business on how to appropriately and effectively manage compliance and reputational risk in the organization • To perform the analysis of possible regulatory compliance threats/risks • To perform ad-hoc functions, as and when assigned by Management.
