ESTATE AGENCY AFFAIRS BOARD (EAAB) CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR A MEMBERS TO SERVE ON THE AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE OF THE ESTATE AGENCY AFFAIRS BOARD The nominated candidate should have sufficient qualifications, knowledge and extensive experience to serve on the Audit and Risk Committee for the EAAB. The ideal candidate should possess (at minimum) the following:
TERM OF OFFICE AND MEMBERS REMUNERATION The term of office for members of the Audit and Risk Committee is three (3) years after which the Minister and the Accounting Officer can review this for renewal of a further three (3) years. The compensation of the members of the Audit and Risk Committee is determined at an hourly tariff based on SAICA tariffs/Auditor General of South Africa/National Treasury tariffs per annum. There are a minimum of four (4) meetings held per financial year. ELIGIBILITY FOR AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP To be eligible for appointment or designation as a member of the EAAB Audit and Risk Committee, a person should: • Not be an office-bearer of any political party, movement, organization or body of a partisan political nature, personally or through a spouse, partner or associate — (i) acquires a direct or indirect financial interest in a registrant; or (ii) has or acquires an interest in a business or enterprise, which may conflict or interfere with proper performance of the duties of a member of the Board; • Not be an un-rehabilitated insolvent or become insolvent; • Not be removed or was not removed from an office of trust on account of misconduct in respect of fraud or the misappropriation of money; • Not be subject to an order of a competent Court holding that person to be mentally unfit or disordered; • Within the previous 10 years, should not have been, nor be, convicted in the Republic of South Africa or elsewhere of theft, fraud, forgery or uttering a forged document, perjury, an offence under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 2001 (Act 38 of 2001), or an offence involving dishonesty; or • Not be convicted of any other offence committed after Section 35 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1993 (Act 200 of 1993), took effect, and sentenced to imprisonment without the option of a fine.
NOMINATION AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Nominations must be submitted in writing and must, at least, contain the following: • A detailed Curriculum Vitae, motivation for appointment and certified copies of Identity Document; • Copies of qualifications should not be included with your application, as these will only be requested from short-listed candidates; • It is the nominee's responsibility to have foreign qualifications verified by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA); and • Preference will be given to candidates who are currently working and residing in Gauteng. NOTE: Background verification, including criminal record and citizenship checks will form part of the selection process. Short-listed candidates will be subjected to the necessary security clearance and probity checks. Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only. No late nominations or facsimile applications will be accepted. Strict compliance with. The nomination requirements and selection procedure will be adhered to. Additionally, the following documentation must be completed and submitted: • A signed nomination and acceptance letter; • A signed letter relating to the particulars of the nominee; • A written disclosure of business interests and membership in other boards/committees/councils information sheet; and • A consent for risk analysis form to be conducted by Lexis Nexis.
