PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY REGULATORY AUTHORITY (PSIRA) BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST Salary: R 678 172 basic salary p/a plus benefits (Centurion) Requirements: Degree/National Diploma in Business/Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent. Coupled with a minimum of 5-8 years working experience as a Business Intelligence Specialist or in a similar role. Experience in working with the following tools: Microsoft BI Tools Microsoft SQL and MySQL will be added advantage ● Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL) and applicable knowledge and experience on the Job may be considered during the selection process. Essential criteria: Ideal candidate should possess strong experience in MS Excel. Should be comfortable with advanced functions (Essential) ● Experience in managing data capture, cleaning, analysis, and development of high-quality reports ● Functional experience in analytics, data visualisation or reporting ● Experience in developing processes ● Accounting/Finance experience preferred ● Problem solving and report writing ● Computer literacy (Microsoft package). Key Performance Areas: Data Preparation; Acquire data from various data sources and combine & transform data into interpretable datasets, reports, or dashboards ● Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data-gathering techniques ● Extend the company's data with third-party sources of information when required ● Process, cleanse and verify the integrity of data used for analysis ● Perform data profiling of data contained in source systems ● Provide detailed analysis of all data implemented into the database ● Provide the data mapping and associated transformation rules for each data item ● Ensure that the business requirements and subsequent development activities are supported by accurate information. Analysis and Visualisation; Interpret data, analyse results using analytical techniques and provide reports and/or dashboards ● Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets ● Use data to answer key questions about the business ● Own and maintain dashboards, ongoing reporting, and ad hoc requests from the organization ● Support and maintain the project data models at multiple levels of detail and functionality (conceptual, logical, normalised, relational, dimensional, application level, subject level, integrated, etc.) ● Data Modelling and drawing up detailed data models. Stakeholder Engagement: Work directly with management and other business users to gather requirements, provide status updates, and build relationships ● Present information using data visualization techniques, Facilitate requirements gathering workshops with the business ● Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyse information needs, functional requirements, and business processes. Develop and design reports in a timely manner and aligned with the stakeholder requirements; ● Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports ● Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality ● Utilise skills to convert complex information into understandable formats to create relevant business reports ● Implement reporting requirements/projects to ensure customer needs are met ● Translate meta-data into explanatory reports and visuals for easy understanding to end users ● Coordinate and ensure that all data reporting projects are designed, scoped and delivered to meet the needs of the business. Transfer of knowledge and understanding of designed reports to the end user; Communication with stakeholders to keep them abreast of current developments within the function and manage project expectations. Continuous communication and feedback to keep the business requester informed of the status. Understand data sources to ensure governance, procedures and standards are upheld and complied with. Utilise specialist knowledge to explain the data and transfer the understanding to the business end user. Establish and share data dictionary with business stakeholders. Engage and collaborate with business and IT technical functions to determine avenues for improvement in data analytics. Conduct training and up skilling on new reports and or reporting platforms to relevant stakeholders. Be agile in creating networks within the organisation that allow for visibility and knowledge sharing. Update data dictionary on an ongoing basis to ensure its accurate and kept up to date with new report developments. Manage customer centricity within the area of responsibility; Utilise specialist knowledge to explain the data and transfer the understanding to the business end user. Conduct training and up skilling on new reports and/or self-service analytics platforms to relevant stakeholders. Communication with stakeholders to keep them abreast of current developments within the function and to manage expectations. Apply the standards set out in all legislation, policy and procedure that affects the customer. Deal effectively and timeously with customer complaints and ensure that complaints are resolved or escalated in line with agreed standards. Deliver services and products to the customer within the parameters of the agreed SLA. Recognise and celebrate customer-centric behaviour within others. Manage colleagues' and customers' expectations and communicate appropriately within the parameters of agreed SLAs. Act in a customer-centric manner that is in line with the service code and core ideology in order to meet and exceed the requirements of internal and external customers.
