SOUND TECHNICIAN PERMANENT POSITION REPORTING TO THE STAGE SERVICES MANAGER All-inclusive annual remuneration package: R 411 264 (Not negotiable) - Estimated monthly net salary: R 21 188 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • A recognised Three (3) year diploma in studio work / advanced diploma in Music Industry / diploma of Live Production and Technical Services or similar. • Three (3) years’ experience in a theatre or similar / related environment as a sound technician (or similar / related role). • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work irregular hours. SUMMARY OF JOB SPECIFICATIONS • Be able to produce, amplify, mix, record, sync and re-produce sounds effects, soundscapes, voices and background noise for rehearsals, theatre productions, performances, and special events. • Attend production meetings and acquire the technical specifications for the productions. • Address and solve any problems that occur during the production set-up. • Discuss all technical requirements with customers and address equipment needed from stores. • Safely break down the setup by allocating stage crew and return all technical equipment’s to stores. • Report broken or damaged technical equipment to the store supervisor and fit and test all sound equipment and determine its condition. • Participate or assist the Stage Services Department to maintain an effective working environment. • Schedule of stage crew documents approved by the departmental manager. • Assist Stage Services Manager with scheduling of stage machinery tests. SUMMARY OF JOB SPECIFICATIONS • Set up electronic systems and devices. • Assemble and connect system components (e.g., cables, intercom, CCTV, etc.). • Maintenance of electro technically stage machineries to comply with the occupational health and safety regulations (Dimmer calibration, batten height, weight test, load tests, current calibration on stage lifts, connection inspection, inspection of limit and safety switches, CCTV and run of play communication. • Maintenance of production lighting and sound equipment’s (firmware and software upgrades). • Repairs building and specialized AEG stage machineries, audio equipment’s, audio compressors, limiters, audio equalizers, electronic crossovers, high output amplifiers and guitar amplifiers etc. • Installation of new and show theatre sound systems. • Ensure routine calibration, maintenance services on specialized equipment and machineries. • Maintenance and repairs of refrigeration, cooling equipment’s and air conditioning system. • Welding, brazing in workshop and cleaning of the workshop areas.
