OBP is a Schedule 3B Public Entity and is committed to quality products and equal opportunities in employment MANAGER: ENGINEERING, MAINTENANCE AND UTILITIES (EMU) (Ref: EMU26 /2023) Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the strategic objectives of OBP by ensuring safe, efficient and reliable machinery, equipment and facilities.
Main Responsibilities include: * Develop and implement an asset maintenance strategy that includes the equipment registers and the planned maintenance plan which is aligned to the corporate strategy * Develop implementation plans and a schedule of planned preventative maintenance and calibrations. * Ensure implementation, continuous maintenance and updating of the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) as part of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system * Review, implement and update long-term maintenance plans (CAPEX) as per agreed frequency. * Ensure availability of utilities to allow for the production plan to be met.* Ensure alignment of facility maintenance with production plans and schedules. * Contribute to ensuring a safe, clean and hygienic environment for all OBP employees by enforcing adherence to maintenance plans * Ensure good housekeeping and ground maintenance of the OBP property * Enforce all relevant GMR 2.1 regulations and ensure compliance records are filed and accessible for audit and legal purposes * Cultivate a culture of accountability, housekeeping and tidiness in all EMU activities * Enforce safe working practices and compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act by staff and contractors.* Analyse the EMU plan to determine the applicable deliverables and targets *Determine the staff requirements, permanent and contractors, in accordance with the expected deliverables * Secure the staff requirements to ensure that deliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets. * Address challenges between EMU and other departments that impacts on other department’s activities * Formulate and participate in preparing annual budgets on behalf of the department for senior management approval * Manage and control the department’s relevant cost centres/budget to ensure alignment to the organisation’s revenue and efficiency objectives. * Identify and mitigate internal systems and procedural barriers to enhance excellent customer service. * Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships for the purpose of expectations management, knowledge sharing and integration, and to manage the organisation’s reputation. * Implement strategic targets, performance management, and the required cascading of performance objectives in order to drive operational success * Responsible for the leadership and development of all staff within the department. * Ensure the mitigation of the department’s risk profile through the application of fraud controls and risk prevention principles and implementing of sound governance and compliance processes and tools to identify and manage risks. * Responsible for the coordination and maintenance of quality risk management in line with regulatory requirements. Minimum Requirements include: * B. Eng Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (NQF 8) * Government Certificate of Competence (GCC) is compulsory as per the OHS Act GMR 2.1 * Valid professional registration with the Engineering Council of SA (ECSA) is advantageous *7 years’ experience in a plant maintenance environment of which 2 years must include supervisory or managerial experience * Experience with the management of external contractors is required, including the application of NEC 3, General Conditions Contract or FIDIC * * Experience in a Quality/cGMP Environment Remuneration: A Paterson Grade D remuneration package will be offered that is commensurate with experience and qualification of the successful candidate.
