Head: Missionvale, Bird Street and Second Avenue Campuses Branch: People and Operations Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor People and Operations, the core purpose of this job is to lead, create and maintain a conducive and an enabling environment for students and staff on the Missionvale, Bird Street and Second Avenue Campuses, for the academic project to proceed with optimal effectiveness and efficiency, in accordance with the strategic objectives, mission and vision of the Nelson Mandela University. Key performance areas relating to all three campuses: • Strategic leadership and management • Advancement of the transformation and engagement agenda and immersion of campuses within their respective communities • Enabling learning, teaching and environment at the campuses • Enabling research, innovation and technology environment • Lead and manage human resources • Strategic management of resources (financial and otherwise). Education and experience: • Master's degree • 8-10 years' experience in higher education management in which competence has been gained. Senior Director: Support Services The purpose of the job is to strategically provide support services the academic project and rest of the University by ensuring that efficient and effective support service strategies, plans, systems, processes, infrastructure are in place and are continuously improved and reviewed to respond to the needs of the academic project of the University. Key performance areas: • Strategic leadership and vision for the Support Services Division • Drive efficiencies, cost reduction and improved service delivery • Direct and manage human resources in the division • Direct and enable the enhancement of sustainability of units within Support Services and where applicable to increase revenue streams • Manage financial and physical assets in the division • Perform contract management of capital projects • Trusted business partner to internal and external clients. Education and experience: • At least an industry specific postgraduate qualification, but preferably an Master's degree with registration with a professional body an advantage • At least 10 years' experience in which competence has been gained, but preferably 12 years' experience in business administration, if possible in higher education. Senior Director: Infrastructure Services and Space Optimisation The main purpose of the job is to strategically direct and manage the effective and efficient provision and enhancement of infrastructure development and services including planned, proactive maintenance, optimisation and innovation in space utilisation that responds to the changing needs of the academy and maximising return on assets for the University, in accordance with the Nelson Mandela University strategic objectives, values, mission and vision, as well as legislative requirements. Key performance areas: • Strategically direct and oversee infrastructure projects and services, space allocation and optimisation, and integrated estate management on behalf of the University • Undertake contract management of capital projects • Develop and manage multi-year and annual budgets in respect of physical planning and large-scale projects • Oversee, through the Maintenance Unit, the proper and proactive management of maintenance and upgrades on all University facilities on all campuses • Lead and manage human capital in the Division • Strategic management of resources (financial and otherwise) in the Division. Education and experience: • A relevant postgraduate qualification and current professional registration, a Master's degree will be advantageous • The appointed incumbent will be required to register for a Master's degree within six (6) months of appointment if not already in possession of such a qualification • Eight (8) years' experience with at least five (5) years' experience in a management role in the Built Environment.
