NATIONAL LOTTERIES COMMISSION (NLC) NATIONAL LOTTERIES COMMISSION DISTRIBUTION AGENCY The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) is the largest funder of good causes in South Africa and grants over R1 billion annually for a number of worthy good causes. Numerous projects in Charities, Arts, Culture and National Heritage as well as Sports and Recreation, are supported. The Distributing Agency of the NLC is responsible for considering, evaluating and adjudicating applications for grants or recommendations of funding of worthy good causes. The Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition seeks to appoint suitable persons to be members of the Distributing Agency, and hereby invites nominations from organisations or the public and applications from individuals, who can be considered for appointment.
Suitable candidates will need to be: • Persons with a proven history of integrity and ethical behaviour. • Experienced in management of resources to poor communities and welfare causes. • Committed to ensuring that the Lottery grant makes a difference in communities and reaches the beneficiaries most in need of the grant funding. The National Lotteries Act (https://www.gov.za/documents/lotteries-act), sets out the provisions for disqualification as a member, conflict of interests and restraint of trade. The appointed members of the Distributing Agency will serve for a period of 5 years, on a full-time basis as staff members of the National Lotteries Commission. One of the members will be appointed as Chairperson. Note: Background verification, including criminal record, social media and citizenship checks, will form part of the selection process.
