NATIONAL ARTS COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA (NAC) FIXED TERM POSITION AVAILABLE (Salary package: level 11 notch 1) The National Arts Council of South Africa is looking to attract dynamic, passionate and innovative self-starters with a solid understanding of the Creative Industries Sector. REQUIREMENTS (full job specification is available upon request) SENIOR ACCOUNTANT The incumbent must provide sound financial and reconciliation management knowledge and sound business principles by recording and summarising financial transactions in accordance with the NAC, PFMA and GRAP standards.
Additional role requirements are • Reconciling payment batches • Submission of daily/weekly reconciliations for approval • To ensure that financial transactions and events are fully recorded and classified. • Ensure that sub-ledgers are reconciled to the general ledger. • General ledger control accounts are reconciled. • Fixed Assets Register is reconciled to physical verification. • Ensure that monthly and correcting journal entries are processed into various accounts. • Assist with reports and financial data are reconciled. • Follow up with irregular and Fruitless Expenditure. • Assist with monthly financial reports submission to the CFO for approval. • Assist with monitoring and implementation of finance policies. • Ensure that statutory legislation is complied with. • Assist with the preparation for year-end audit. • Implement Internal Control arising from Internal Audit reports • Ensure Internal Audit recommendations are implemented on departmental level. • Review assets register and implementation according to policy and GRAP • Allocate, review, and monitor work of subordinates • Provide coaching and mentoring. Minimum education requirement • B Com/B Compt degree in Finance qualification Required experience • 4-5 years’ experience in Supervisor/Managerial role within the accounting environment Knowledge areas Advanced Microsoft Excel: Essential Government procurement, PFMA and Treasury Regulations: Essential Supply Chain Management: Desirable Skills Pastel: Essential Microsoft suite: Essential A market related package will be negotiated with the successful candidate(s).
