PROGRAMME DIRECTOR (FIXED TERM CONTRACT 12 MONTHS) Location: Richards Bay Type: REFERENCE: TS/2022/01 Job Description An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced senior professional to fulfil the role of: Programme Director, on a fixed term contract of 12 months, the contract may be extended by 24 months subject to availability of funds from the department to implement the projects. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall management, operations and maintenance of the water and sanitation infrastructure of the intervention project as part of the ministerial directive in line with Section 63 of the Water Services Act. Reporting to the General Manager: Technical Services, the incumbent must be prepared to be based in the uMkhanyakude District Municipal area for the duration of the contract.
Responsibilities KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • Overall responsibility for the implementation of the directive • Drive the entire intervention and ensure that all milestones are achieved • Mobilise and manage all resources, internal and external • Monitoring and reporting on progress • Accountable for deliverables produced by other experts • Facilitate the Technical Steercom and any other engagements • Manage expenditure as per approved cash flow projections • Ensure that the programme is implemented as per the submitted methodology • Report on project progress against key performance areas Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 7) in Construction Management or Civil Engineering with a minimum of ten year’s relevant experience • Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) will be advantageous. • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to navigate social and political environment • Sound knowledge of public sector procurement processes and applicable legislation is required. • Well-developed skills in management, negotiation, communication and conflict resolution. • Knowledge of potable and wastewater treatment and asset management • Computer literacy in MS Office, MS Projects, and GIS. • Excellent report writing skills. • Valid Driver’s licence, minimum code EB. • Fluent in IsiZulu Applications for the above position, including a comprehensive curriculum vitae, copies of qualifications, proof of identification, driver’s license and details of recent contactable referees, must be sent to the HR Officer via email: vacancy@mhlathuze.co.za or submit your online application on the careers section of our website: www.mhlathuze.co.za quoting the reference number as indicated by the close of business on the 28 June 2022. • Mhlathuze Water reserves the right not to make an appointment to the post as advertised. • The appointment will be made in line with the requirements of our employment equity plan. • Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only. • If you have not been contacted within 30 days of the closing date, please accept that your application was not successful. • Mhlathuze Water would never require job seekers to pay money when applying for positions in the organisation.
