MEDIA DEVELOPMENT AND DIVERSITY AGENCY (MDDA) The Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) is a statutory development agency for promoting and ensuring media development and diversity, set up as a partnership between the South African Government and major print and broadcasting companies in terms of the MDDA Act, No. 14 of 2002. The following position based in Johannesburg is available at the MDDA: EXECUTIVE MANAGER: RESEARCH, TRAINING, MONITORING & EVALUATION Salary: R1 289 839,54 TCTC per annum. Reference No. 2022EM-RTME A member of the Executive Committee (EXCO) and Management Committee (MANCO), this is a permanent executive position reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The main purpose of this position is to provide effective and efficient leadership in research and training and leading in monitoring an evaluation of the MDDA’s community media projects (broadcast, digital and print). The position requires ability to work long hours and to travel extensively. Minimum Requirements: NQF Level 7, Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) as recognized by SAQA, in Administration, Development, Communication, Monitoring and Evaluation or Business Management. NQF Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree / Post Graduate qualification will be an added advantage. A valid driver’s license. 8 - 10 years proven track record in formulating and implementing research and training strategies and plans; commissioning and directing research and capacity building projects, in which 6-8 years working experience at senior management level. Extensive experience in monitoring and evaluating, research, training and development in community projects and compiling quarterly and annual reports to Boards and Committees. Sector experience, performance contracting and people-management, strategy development and research agenda setting, service provider management, as well as stakeholder management and engagement. Understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), general knowledge of government mandate and an interest in internal processes. Critical Competencies: Problem-solving and critical analytical skills. Negotiation and excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to develop and lead teams, people management and empowerment, stakeholder management, ability to establish long-lasting partnerships with identified stakeholders and obtain buy-in on crucial matters affecting the MDDA mandate. The candidate must be adaptable, trustworthy, and diplomatic, assertive, and self-driven. The candidate must be innovative and solution-oriented; client oriented and able to work under pressure and can maintain high levels of confidentiality. Ability to effectively manage and work with people at all levels, negotiate with clients, executives, management, and the Board. A proven team player.
