Minimum Requirements · Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or Public Relations or Equivalent · Postgraduate Degree will be an added advantage · Minimum competency levels – A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in the local government environment · Good communication skills, interpersonal, analytical, and organising skills · Good management and leadership skills including stakeholder management · Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) · Valid driver's licence · Registration with relevant professional body. Key Performance Areas · Plan, develop and implement the Communication Strategy of the Municipality. · The incumbent will be accountable to the Executive Manager Corporate Services · Analyse communications environment to identify marketing and branding opportunities. · Render comprehensive communication service to promote and build sound relationships between the municipality and stakeholders. · Aligns with municipal transformational, change, service delivery goals and strategies. · Coordinate, scrutinize and arrange media statements, briefings and conferences. · Manage and arrange corporate events. · Advance corporate communications and marketing. · Maintain Inter-governmental relations and organisational protocol. · Keep abreast of current developments, legislative changes, emerging trends and latest technologies in the profession.
