KWAZULU NATAL SHARKS BOARD INTERNAL /EXTERNAL ADVERT BEACH SUPERVISOR/SKIPPER X 3 PERMANENT CONTRACT Ref No: SUP05/2023 PATTERSON JOB GRADE C2 – R 331 472 CTC PER ANNUM BEACH SUPERVISOR/SKIPPER: Ballitox1/Zinkwazi x1/Richards Bay x1 Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the Beach Supervisor/Boat Skipper position that has become available in the Ballito, Zinkwazi and Umhlanga base station.
Minimum Requirement & Job Competences: • Grade 12, • Code EB/EC/EC1 Driver’s License • A valid SAMSA issued, surf launching endorsed Skippers ticket • A minimum of 3-5 years working knowledge of the sea and basic knowledge of marine environment; • Proven working experience as a leader in a team environment, with good group leadership and supervisory skills • General ski boating, sea-going & diving experience, will be an added advantage, • A good knowledge of the sea, basic knowledge of the marine environment • Good verbal, written and two-way radio communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills. • A satisfactory level of mechanical and technical ability to perform maintenance tasks at the required standards Main Duties (this is a brief summary and does not include all responsibilities assigned to the position): • Co-ordinate, lead and control the daily sea-going and terrestrial operations and activities of all crew members under your direct supervision, • Ensure all crew members are trained and competent for sea going duties, • Ensure that the Shark Safety Gear and all other associated operations equipment is serviceable, and well maintained, • Gather scientific data as required by the Research Division, • General Administration & staff Management.
