CALL FOR SUPERVISING PRODUCERS Background The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission (KZNFILM) launched its Film Fund in July 2014. The Fund is for the production and development of television, feature film, animation and documentary content. The Film Fund also caters for Marketing and Distribution, and Markets and Festivals. A panel of Supervising Producers that supervises the funded producers on their contracted projects, mentor and supervise filmmakers beneficiaries’ performance on all of their producer functions. The Commission is therefore seeking suitable practitioners that can be called on to assist with the supervising of filmmakers’ productions, on contracted projects. Please note that this is not an advertisement for permanent employment. Supervising Producers will be called upon as and when the need arises to assist with supervisory role of contracted projects. Purpose The KwaZulu Natal Film Commission (KZNFILM) is calling for seasoned Supervising Producers for the KZN Film Fund projects between April 2023 and April 2026. The Supervising Producer is required to: Provide support expertise to Tier 3-5 producers that KZN Film Fund awards so as to ensure successful delivery of projects; Provide oversight of the development and production process and is an advisor role to the teams, reports and budget break down; Oversee pre-production planning and schedules and ensure the successful approval of these documents; Guide elements and provide expert advise of production processes i.e. talent, crew, location, etc; and to provide creative supervision in post-production. Qualification • Film/TV graduate with at least 5 years of experience in producing ground breaking stories. If not a graduate, the professional must minimum 5-10 years of production experience in documentaries, feature films, or TV series in a leadership role, or • In-depth and diverse understanding of the requirements for developing or producing feature films, TV series, animation and or documentaries, or • Extensive experience in dealing with the requirements of a Film Fund and or broadcast work, or • Extensive experience in the running of a production workflow with emphasis on project development and production.
