Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be required to assist in the administration of relevant provisions of the International Trade Administration Act, specifically but not limited to the administration of a price preference system, applicable to the exportation of ferrous and non-ferrous waste and scrap and/or exportation of semi-finished metal goods and/or importation of metal working machinery. This will include, but will not be limited to, receiving export/import permit applications, checking the accuracy of permit applications, prepare bi-weekly circulation lists and circulate them to industry representative organizations, correspond with clients and stakeholders in the ferrous and non-ferrous industries, both verbally and in writing. Receive responses and audit purchase agreements from buyers and consumers. Assist with calculation of the preference price in accordance with a pre-determined formula. Administer all metal transactions in the system in terms of capturing and scanning of approved permit applications. Participate in adjudication processes. Visit metal dealers and consumers to ensure compliance with administrative requirements. Handle all the relevant information pertaining to permit applications, and ensure that all required processes leading to the permit being approved and issued are adhered to. Forward the approved permit information to SARS and notify permit applicants accordingly. At least 3 years’ experience within the Import/Export Control or related investigation/enforcement environment. Policing and enforcement of cross border or related crime. Sound knowledge and understanding of import/export control and its role in the common customs area of SACU and internationally. Ability to communicate effectively in public and private sectors. Proven leadership skills and the ability to work in a team. Ability to render creative contribution to the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Excellent investigation and research skills. Good planning and organizing skills. Computer literacy. Must have a valid driver’s license. Additional enforcement/investigative qualifications will be an added advantage. Key responsibilities: The successful candidate will be required to, inter alia: Administer tasks emanating from the enforcement of the provisions of the International Trade Administration Act, Act 71 of 2002, which entails gathering of information pertaining to alleged contravention of the Act. Conduct investigations pertaining to illegally imported goods or goods destined for export. Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the conditions of import/export permits. Seize imported/exported goods due to non-compliance. Maintain database regarding all matters investigated/inspected. Keep track of the processes and compile reports. Provide assistance in relevant legal processes. Keep focus on the price preference system on the exportation of scrap metals and/or exportation of semi-finished metal goods and/or importation of metal working machinery. The successful candidate will be expected to travel extensively locally. The successful candidate may be required to attend to any other related ITAC duties that may be required from time to time.
