HUMAN SETTLEMENTS REQUESTS FOR QUOTATIONS - PNW 240W LED POWER FLOOD LIGHTS SCAM

BE WARNED OF FRAUDULENT HUMAN SETTLEMENTS REQUESTS FOR QUOTATIONS

Be warned of fraudulent or fake Requests for Quotations (RFQ) issued in the name of the Department of Human Settlements (DHS).

Some of these fraudulent activities even use fake social media accounts which promise tenders and other economic opportunities within human settlements sector in the name of the Minister and other officials within the Department of Human Settlements.

The latest of these scams is a request for quotation (RFQ) of JPNW 240W LED POWER FLOOD LIGHTS. This fraudulent request is issued in the name of the Deputy Director General, Sindisiwe Ngxongo. The Human Settlements domain is @dhs.gov.za but the used for this RFQ is @dhsgovza.co.

We request potential suppliers to be vigilant when responding to these RFQs. We applaud members of the public who continue to alert or seek clarity from the Department when they receive these suspicious requests.

Members of the public and potential suppliers are warned of these fraudulent activities and are encouraged to report them to the law enforcement agencies.

This is true, I received a request this week
The only company that have these lights is called jpn global services in PE
+27 (78) 8533985
+27 (41) 8239400
Their website has the same exact specifications of the lights they want
They cost R2840 or which is way lower than the going price.

They use the correct numbers for the department +27 (12) 7712949 (how, it beats me) because when you call it doesn't sound like a diverted call.

I thought it was legit and submitted the required documents. After sending it I realise that the email address was strange and that caused me to do some research.

Within two hours of sending the info I got a call from a lady by the name of Zoleka who indicate that they want lights by Monday 14/08/2017 (what a tender process).

I got a RFQ on the 18/8/2017 the closing date was 21/08/2017 before 12H00. I submitted all the required doc. within 2 minutes I got a call saying that they will call me before one. before 13H00 I got a call again saying that my quotation has been accepted, i should deliver the Flood Lights by Wednesday 23/08/2017. Within few minutes she emailed the letter of appointment requesting my bank details and my signature to accept. I also got suspicious about the domain dhsgovza.co. I the googles Sindiwe Ngxongo and discovered that it is a scam. The question is what are they going to do with all these lights 162:(?

There wont be any lights Lillian. They don't seem to exist. So what would have happened if we did not realize it was a scam is: We would have placed an order with the company they have directed us to and paid for the order and then they would have vanished with our money. I just received this RFQ last week

I Received a request on Friday (24-10-2017 14:40) to Quote for 165 x MVP16-350W COMMERCIAL FLOOD LIGHTS

The only company that have these lights is called JPN Global Electric Solutions in PE

They cost R2480 with a 5% re-sellers's discount.

At 14:29 she called and asked if i could deliver by Wednesday (25-10-2017) as it is an urgent order. I contacted a Martha Legodi of JPN Global Electric Solutions in PE and she assured me that they can deliver within 2 days.

This morning (24-10-2017 09:43) I received a call from Angie informing me that my Quotation has been approved and they need the lights delivered by the 26-10-2017 at 240 JUSTICE MOHAMED STREET, PRETORIA.

Received Acceptance Letter and Purchase Order Form at 10:09 24-10-2017.

Got the same request yesterday and i called them. they answered right away. but what i noticed today is the:

did whois.co check the domain name owner is hidden.

received the same, 6 nov 2017 .
So the scam includes the supplier as well, i almost parted with 300k yesterday 9 nov 2017.
I did some checks first and called to set up a meet and when that was declined i immediately knew its a scam.
The email address was also incorrect and the Tel no did not work.
So a supplier is created and receives the money, no delivery will be forthcoming and they will vanish.

I receivedon't the quotation request 3 days after they sent the mail .then I called to ask for the closing date since they did not mention it on the quotation .
They asked me for my email address and they sent the same quotation and the wanted response the following day by 12:00.
I started searching for the light and finally one company that supplies commercial flood lights told me that this quotation is a scam .

I almost got scammed by people wanting solar water tanks, they are losing as department of rural development and land reform. after sending a quotation, I got a call asking if I can deliver in two days. I was really hopeful until I took a look at the email address. Scammers are really clever. I am so glad I realized it was a scam before giving these people any money. If something is too good to be true.... It probably is.

Jesus I almost fall for a prey of these scammers they requested a quote for dual coil solar tanks with Department of Rural Development and LandLReform it looked so real I sent the quote they requested and support documents but when I did my verification before I use so much money l noticed something strange with their email address and contact information it says linda.page@drld-govza .co .CSD was of a good course but it exposed us on scammers 😢
