DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS SCAMS WARNINGS
ALL SERVICE PROVIDERS AND BUSINESSES
The Department of Labour wishes to advise all suppliers that are currently registered on its database, the members of the public and all other businesses that anticipate engaging in business with the Department, to be on the high alert to a scam that was bought to the attention of the Department around 2014.
Fraudsters send unsuspecting suppliers or businesses a request for a quotation for the provision of various items, some of which are:
• Goritas Discs 330 mm.
The request for a quotation comes in a forged formal document, bearing the Department of Labour‘s logo and government coat of arms, with speci cations of the items that are required and the contact details of the person that sent the request. The Department of Labour does not have any projects that require the provision of such items nor does it have any business relations with the companies that are requesting these quotations from the suppliers.
Furthermore, suppliers or businesses need to verify all received quotation requests with the Department of Labour on the numbers that are indicated on this alert, or alternatively visit our Supply Chain Unit or the Fraud Unit to con rm the validity of these requests.
Please confirm any received requests with our Supply Chain Management Unit on: (012) 309 4089
