FORT COX AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY TRAINING INSTITUTE Fort Cox Agriculture and Forestry Training Institute seeks to employ dynamic and qualified persons for the following vacant positions: DEPUTY PRINCIPAL AND HEAD OF ACADEMICS (PERMANENT) REF Number: 01/01/2024 Salary: R958 824 per annum (SL 12) Requirements: Grade 12, Appropriate NQF Level 9/ Possession of postgraduate qualification in Agricultural management/ agriculture/forestry / general management and development; Registered as a qualified assessor and moderator with the relevant SETA. A minimum of 10 years of teaching or lecturing experience in the tertiary education sector preferably at an agricultural college. A minimum of 3 years of management experience gained in an educational sector environment; a valid EB driver’s licence. Key Performance Areas: Management of academic heads of department; chairing the Board of Examiners, Provision of technical and administrative support to the Academic Board; leading and guiding curriculum development and reviews; Development of Academic Section Operational Plans and Budgets; Represent the Institute at SETA, APAC and other stakeholder and intergovernmental fora and Budget management and performance management. HEAD OF DEPARTMENT: FORESTRY AND NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (PERMANENT) REF Number: 02/01/2024 Salary: R811 560 per annum (SL 11) Requirements: Grade 12, Appropriate NQF Level 9 qualification in Agriculture or equivalent, Possession of postgraduate Certificate in Education/Diploma in Higher Education; Compulsory registration as assessor and moderator; A minimum of 6 years of teaching or lecturing experience in the tertiary education sector preferably at an agricultural college. Registration with the relevant professional body will be an added advantage..; a valid EB driver’s licence. Key Performance Areas: Manage the development and implementation of the academic curriculum for the Forestry and Nature Resource Management disciplines according to the relevant quality standards. Oversee and ensure effective teaching and learning. Manage applied research and community engagement; Leadership, management and supervision of subordinates in the section. Manage administrative and extra-curricular activities. Co-ordinate Forestry activities. SENIOR LECTURER: AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING (PERMANENT)- RE-ADVERTISEMENT REF Number: 03/01/2024 Salary: R527 298 per annum (SL 10) Requirements: Grade 12, MSc Agricultural Engineering or equivalent, registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a candidate or professional engineer, technologist or technician. 3 years relevant work experience. The following will be an added advantage: 3 years of teaching experience, industry experience; Higher Education teaching qualification; Assessor and Moderator course and a valid EB driver’s licence. Key Performance Areas: Plan and Facilitate teaching and learning activities; prepare manuals, conduct assessments, conduct applied research, supervise student’s experiential learning and research projects; carry out community engagement activities and co-ordinate Agricultural engineering activities within the department. SENIOR LECTURER: FORESTRY (PERMANENT) REF number: 04/01/2024 Salary Level: 10 Salary: R527 298 per annum (SL 10) Requirements: Grade 12; Masters in Forestry or equivalent; 3 years relevant work experience. The following will be an added advantage: Higher Education teaching qualification; Assessor and Moderator course; and a valid Driver’s License EB. Key Performance Areas: Plan and facilitate teaching and learning activities, prepare manuals, conduct assessments, conduct applied research, supervise student’s experiential learning and research projects; carry out community engagement activities and co-ordinate Forestry activities within the department. TECHNICIAN: AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING (PERMANENT): RE-ADVERTISEMENT REF number: 05/01/2024 Salary: R359 517 per annum (SL 08) Requirements: Grade 12 plus N6 higher technical certificate in elector-mechanical engineering, trade test millwright qualification or equivalent, a minimum of 2 years’ experience in working with workshop equipment and tools including lathes, milling machines, welding equipment, diesel engines, and transmissions trains, experience in electrical and electronic appliances. Valid Driver’s License EB. Key Performance Areas: In liaison with the lecturer concerned, develop a plan that clearly outlines the practical course requirements, rationale, goals, and objectives. Develop and prepare practical plans/manuals according to HEQC Pro-forms requirements. NB: For all advertised positions, candidates will be subjected to practical assessment.
