FINANCIAL AND FISCAL COMMISSION (FFC) The Financial and Fiscal Commission (FFC) exists to provide proactive, expert and independent advice to promote the Intergovernmental Fiscal Relations (IGFR) System in South Africa, through empirical policy analysis and to ensure the realisation of our Constitutional values. The vision is to provide influential advice to promote an equitable, efficient and sustainable Intergovernmental Fiscal Relations system. RESEARCH ANALYSTS X 10 Ref: 001/2023 Salary Range – R 473 716 .68 – R 555 061.08 pa (All-inclusive package) The purpose of this position is to provide analytical and interpretive support to Financial and Fiscal Commission’s research output in delivering its mandate based on research projects. The FFC is therefore seeking to appoint energetic, and results driven individuals with high levels of analytical and problem-solving skills for Research Analysts positions on a permanent basis.
1. THE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The purpose of these positions is to provide analytical and interpretative support to Financial and Fiscal Commission’s research output in delivering its mandate based on research projects. 2. LOCATION: CAPE TOWN 3. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Minimum of a Degree (NQF 7) in Economics, Econometrics, Politics, Philosophy, or related field. • NQF 8 (Honours Degree) will be an advantage. • 0 – 1 year Experience 4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The key outputs of the Research Analysts are but not limited to: ▪ To provide research support by collecting, analysing and interpreting data. ▪ Manage the relevant research data. ▪ Compile datasets, conduct exploratory data work, literature review and related research assignments. ▪ Support the development of concept papers for the relevant research projects. ▪ Draft and submit research reports. ▪ Assist in the compilation and submission of research reports. ▪ Advise on implications of research findings as well as recommendations. 5. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES ▪ Conducting policy research, collecting, and compiling information. ▪ Demonstrate a sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. ▪ Good writing and presentation skills, with excellent command of written and spoken English. ▪ Research and policy analysis ▪ Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) ▪ Ability to work under pressure. ▪ Proven ability to work with various quantitative/statistical software packages would be an advantage Applications: Interested applicants must complete the FFC online application form at: https://forms.office.com/r/aXZcxi0S1F, which includes submitting the following documents (in Word or PDF format only) via email: a cover letter, ID/Passport, highest education qualification certificate, and academic transcript to recruitment@ffc.co.za.
