EASTERN CAPE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SETTLEMENTS 2x Audit Committee Members Component: Internal Audit Head Office Fees: Hourly rate The Eastern Cape Department of Human Settlements calls on all independent suitably qualified and interested persons to serve as members on its Audit Committee for a period of three (3) years with effect from the date of appointment.
Display the highest levels of integrity and objectivity. The ability to dedicate time to the activities of Human Settlement's audit committee. An inquisitive personality with reasonable levels of probing, analytical reasoning abilities and good communication skills. Have a fair understanding of the Regulatory Framework within which the provincial departments operate. Knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing the Human Settlements sector is essential.
Key responsibility areas: The operations of the audit committee are stipulated in the Audit Committee Charter/Terms of Reference. The Audit Committee as an advisory committee conducts its oversight responsibilities with regards to governance, risk management and internal controls. It fulfils its statutory responsibilities in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations and other applicable Regulatory Frameworks. Helps to strengthen objectivity and credibility of financial and operational information reporting. Monitors the performance of the internal audit unit. Monitors management's responses to reported weaknesses, control deficiencies and make recommendations for Improvement. Review compliance with legislative and regulatory provisions. Reporting: The audit committee will report directly to the Head of Department and the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) of Human Settlements. Remuneration: The remuneration of the members of the Audit Committee will be in accordance with the Provincial Treasury Instruction Note No.6 of 2014/15- Framework for Appointment and Remuneration of Audit Committee members. The audit committee members are expected to provide their own working tools and have own processes to embark on Continuous Professional Development in order to provide sound advice to the department as well as keep abreast with continuous professional developments.
