ADMINISTRATION CLERK CENTRE : GREAT FISH RIVER NATURE RESERVE BAND : B UPPER Purpose The Administration Clerk will provide administrative and logistical support to the Reserve Manager. Furthermore, to assist the reserve in attaining of METT score. Requirements • Grade 12- and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Computer literacy and basic understanding of Pastel. • Driver’s license would be an added advantage. SECTION RANGER CENTRE : GREAT FISH RIVER NATURE RESERVE BAND : C LOWER Purpose The Section Ranger will monitor and manage the provision of security and law enforcement activities to the reserve at field level in order to ensure maximum protection of fauna and flora and to maintain set standards. Requirements • A Degree/diploma in Nature Conservation or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 (two) years’ experience in a similar role. At least two years in Supervisory role. • The employee is required to have experience in investigation and reporting, as well as experience in working with communities. • Firearm Competency. • Environmental Management Inspector (EMI Level 2) will be an added advantage. Key Performance Areas • Implementation of policies and procedures: Facilitate the implementation of the Annual Operational Plan (AOP) and Annual performance plan (APP). • Biodiversity conservation: Monitor all game management operations and patrols, record GPS data and map of patrol; complete all ecological and patrol reporting requirements. • Hospitality: May provide general information to tourists and visitors. • Law Enforcement: Facilitate and conduct Law Enforcement Patrols. • Maintenance Support: Assist in the vehicle breakdowns of tourist and ECPTA vehicles. • Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate and provide reserve related information to stakeholders. • People Management: Manage subordinates by assigning work/duties and assessing progress. • Administration and reporting: Prepare and draft monthly reports e.g. ecological returns, monthly reports, etc. NB: In line with the Employment Equity Policy of the Eastern Cape Parks & Tourism Agency, preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups. HUMAN CAPITAL OFFICER Centre: Head Office (East London) Level: C – Lower Reporting to the Human Capital Manager, the Human Capital Officer is responsible for providing a full and comprehensive “one stop” HR generalist service to the Eastern Cape Parks & Tourism Agency on a decentralised basis and implement organisation improvement projects. Requirements • Three-year tertiary qualification in Human Resources with three years’ relevant experience. • Valid driver’s license. • Willingness to travel extensively to Reserves across the Eastern Cape. ECOLOGIST (Fixed Term Contract) Centre : Head Office (East London) Band : C – Upper Purpose Reporting to the Stewardship Manager, the Ecologist will negotiate and facilitate protected area expansion networks and provide ecological advice and support the management thereof in line with the National Environmental Management Act, National Protected Areas Act, 2003 and any other relevant environmental management legislation. Requirements • MSc Degree in Natural Sciences or relevant equivalent. • Minimum of 5 (five) years’ experience in an ecological role within conservation and or protected areas planning. • Valid driver’s license. • Registration with SACNASP. • GIS skills. Competencies / Skills required • Ability to provide key technical and ecological advice to landowners/management authorities (stewardship). • Excellent knowledge of the relevant conservation and land use planning. • Sound knowledge of protected area declaration processes. • Understanding of relevant environmental legislation. • Experience in data analysis and management. • Sound knowledge of planning principles. • Excellent research and report-writing skills. • Good experience in GIS and mapping. • Socio-ecological experience. • Good communications skills. • Planning and organizing skills. • 4×4 driving skills. Key Performance Areas • Ecological research: Determine research priorities and monitor trends and identify emerging ecological trends. • Biomonitoring: Design biological and biophysical monitoring programmes. Support landowners to implement management plans by providing appropriate ecological extension support. • Stakeholder engagement and management: Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders e.g. • Landowners, National departments, private organisations, researchers, Communities, local municipalities and Ecological experts. • Budget planning and monitoring: Manage the approved budget as per the project plans and schedules. • People Management: Manage subordinates by assigning work/duties and assessing progress and Ensure Policy implementation of HR policies and strategies (leave management, EE etc.).
