COUNCIL ON HIGHER EDUCATION (CHE) The South African Council on Higher Education (CHE) is an independent statutory body established by the Higher Education Act (Act No. 101 of 1997). As the Quality Council for Higher Education in terms of the National Qualifications Framework Act (Act No 67 of 2008) it advises the Minister of Higher Education and Training on all higher education issues and is responsible for quality assurance and promotion through the Higher Education Quality Committee. Applications are invited from interested and suitably qualified candidates for appointment to the following position: MANAGER DIRECTORATE: ACCREDITATION TOTAL COST OF EMPLOYMENT PACKAGE R811 560.00 PA (inclusive of benefits) The Accreditation Directorate is responsible for the accreditation of new programmes submitted by public and private higher education institutions as well as the re-accreditation of existing programmes offered by private providers. The successful candidate should have: A Master’s degree, preferably in Education/Social Sciences (a Doctor’s degree will be an added advantage), and a minimum of two years’ experience working in a higher education and quality assurance environments. Experience and knowledge of data management, IT will serve as recommendations. Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/attributes): The candidate must demonstrate the following competencies. Important note: The CHE is currently preparing for the full implementation of its new Quality Assurance Framework (QAF). The appointed person is expected to contribute to the preparations, including through the development of the required protocols, manuals, and systems. The implementation of the QAF also requires a revised organisational structure to enable its integrated implementation. This may result in a change in the responsibilities and work of CHE staff, including the Manager who will be appointed to this position. Page 2 of 3 Minimum Qualifications and experience: A Master’s degree. At least three years of undergraduate teaching or academic development experience in public or private higher education. At least two years of management experience. A qualification or experience in project management. Experience in using qualitative and quantitative social science research methods.
