COUNCIL ON HIGHER EDUCATION (CHE) The South African Council on Higher Education (CHE) is an independent statutory body established by the Higher Education Act (Act No. 101 of 1997). As the Quality Council for Higher Education in terms of the National Qualifications Framework Act (Act No 67 of 2008) it advises the Minister of Higher Education and Training on all higher education issues and is responsible for quality assurance and promotion through the Higher Education Quality Committee. The CHE has in collaboration with the University Capacity Development Programme (UCDP) embarked on a project known as the Integrated Quality Assurance Framework (IQAF) which aims to develop an integrated quality assurance framework for the South African higher education sector. The first phase of the project will end in March 2020, with a possibility of a further annual renewal.
Key requirements and competencies: A relevant Masters’ degree, preferably in education or social sciences, a PhD would be an added advantage. Minimum of 3 years research experience, including familiarity with both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Experience in analysing and synthesizing information from multiple sources, including writing and presenting research reports for different target audiences. Ability to conduct meta-analyses of research into higher education. Experience in planning and managing research projects. Knowledge of quality assurance in higher education. Ability to manage and motivate teams. A high level of computer skills, working with online research databases, project management skills, research report writing skills and verbal communication skills. This position is based at the CHE offices in Pretoria and the incumbent should be prepared to travel locally.
