DEPARTMENT: COMMUNITY SERVICES CASUAL LIFEGUARD X 27 POSTS (DECEMBER & JANUARY) (BEACHES) BASIC SALARY: R 680.00 per day worked ADVERTISED: Internal and Website MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Essential Surf Lifesaving Certificate; The incumbent must have recent lifeguard award retest; The incumbent must be prepared to work during weekends and public holidays; The incumbent must have the ability to supervise public; Good communication and conflict management skills; Selection is subject to passing Council’s skills and physical fitness test COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS Makes self-understood to others, pointing out specific issues or considerations to be taken into account; Ensures all details of a task are accomplished; Gives options for client / stakeholders actions from a range of actions available; Follows through on option selected by client / stakeholder within confines of laid down procedure; Plans tasks on a daily basis according to assessment of schedule of activities; Executes tasks in order of priority and urgency; Intermediary knowledge of MS Office; Adapts communication contents to the audience and uses terminology appropriate to the audience; Professional in interaction with general public and stakeholders; Understands the client’s issues and seeks information about their current and future requirements; Shows emotional resilience and handles difficult situations effectively; Candidates must have some knowledge of working on an cash register KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Candidates must be in the possession of SA Lifesaving latest retest for 2021/22; Candidate must pass Council’s skills and fitness test; Keep vigilance over the public bathing; Perform lifesaving duties including First Aid; Ensure that rescue craft is kept in optimum condition on a daily basis; Candidate must work weekends and public holidays with No overtime; Broadcast information to the public via public address system and notice boards; Keep records on sea conditions, number of bathers, equipment and rescue/ first aid statistics; Partake in compulsory daily training exercises CASUAL GENERAL WORKER X 20 POSTS-(DECEMBER & JANUARY) (BEACHES) BASIC SALARY: R317.00 per day worked ADVERTISED: Internal and Website MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Grade 5 or equivalent; Functional literacy; Communication skills; Must be prepared to work during weekends and public holidays. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Keep the beaches and the beach facilities in a clean and hygienic condition (including litter picking, sweeping of the car parks, cleaning ablution facilities and raking of beaches); Assist with weeding, pruning trees, shrubs and trimming hedges; Ensure tools and equipment are in working order.
