BANKING SECTOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING AUTHORITY (BANKSETA) ADVERT FOR NOMINATION OF NEW ACCOUNTING AUTHORITY (AA) MEMBERS OF THE BANKING SECTOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING AUTHORITY (BANKSETA) The term of office for all AAs of Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) will expire on 31 March 2020 and thus, in response to the Minister of Higher Education, Training, Science and Technology, an invitation is hereby made for nominations of new AA members to be appointed as from 1 April 2020.
Composition of the Accounting Authority: The AA is composed of an independent Chairperson and fourteen (14) members as follows: Six (6) members representing Organised Employers, Six (6) members representing Organised Labour, Two (2) members representing Government or Professional Bodies (with an interest in the sector) or sector specific organisation of community (with an identifiable interest in skills development in the sector) Selection Criteria- Knowledge, skills and expertise: Nominated representatives form Organised Employers, Organised Labour, recognised Professional Bodies as well as Civil Society with interest to serve as BANKSETA Board members should have competencies in the following areas: The functioning of the Accounting Authority in terms of the requirements relating to corporate governance and ethics, Skills development legislation and the NSDP, The SETA’s responsibility in respect of service delivery, The PFMA and financial management, The Sector and/or the constituency represented by the Member, The strategic leadership role of the Accounting Authority, Education, training, skills development and human resources development, Quality assurance of learning provision, General management and business skills, The communication and marketing role of an entity in relation to its stakeholders, Other areas of expertise relevant to the Banking and Microfinance Sector. Nomination Process: Nominations will be accepted from an organisation/employer within the Organised Employer, Organised Labour, Government, Professional Body and Community constituencies. The requisite documentation must include a letter from the organisation nominating the prospective member (with recently certified ID copy and contact details attached) and a comprehensive CV with recently certified copies of qualifications (which would also include any details of other Board or Committee memberships where applicable and required knowledge, skills and expertise). The relevant organisations may nominate an alternate for each member in the same manner as nominations for members (nominations for alternate members would need to be clearly stated as such). Nominees will be subjected clearance and disclosure of business interests. Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only. Remuneration: Remuneration of members will be aligned to the rates determined and published by National Treasury from time to time.
