AMATOLA WATER Positions currently available at Amatola Water Board: Amatola Water is a State-owned, water services enterprise established in terms of the Water Services Act. As a public utility, its prime function is to provide water services to municipalities, industry and other communities. Amatola Water’s service area includes Buffalo City, the Amathole District and portions of adjoining districts in the central Eastern Cape. CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER REMUNERATION R1 500 000 – R2 500 000 Five-year performance-based contract appointment Based in EAST LONDON Amatola Water is looking for a highly motivated, self-driven and suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of the Chief Executive Officer at Amatola Water in the Eastern Cape from the Head Office in East London. Amatola Water is a national government business enterprise (water board) classified as Schedule 3(b) in the Public Finance Management Act. As an essential services utility, it is mandated by the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997) to offer bulk water supply services (both potable and untreated water), wastewater treatment and other related services, for public benefit in the Eastern Cape. Amatola Water commenced trading in April 1998. Amatola Water has net assets totalling R442 million, turnover of more than R399 million and a staff complement of just under 400 (four hundred). There are four divisions reporting into this position, namely: Executive Manager: Operations, Executive Manager: Planning and Development, Executive Manager: Finance (CFO) and Executive Manager: Corporate Services. Minimum Qualifications: • B. Tech Engineering/BSc. Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or equivalent (NQF 7) • Post-graduate qualification in either Public Administration, Management, or Finance field from a recognized Higher Institution (NQF 8 or higher). Advantageous Qualifications: • MBA/MBL Minimum Experience: • At least 5 years’ experience in an Operations environment or a Project Management environment • Broad experience in stakeholder engagement and management • Extensive management experience with at least 5 years at Executive Management level • Proven experience in dealing with Organised Labour • Public sector experience including interactions with other Accounting Officers, Executive Authorities, and oversight structures of Legislatures Advantageous experience • Management experience in a water environment • And Public sector management experience Key performance areas, will include, but will not be limited to the following: • Align the mandate, mission, corporate objectives, and organisation competencies • Corporate governance • Development and management of senior management team and human capital development • Drive operational efficiency and effectiveness • Financial management and legal compliance • Modelling and setting entity’s culture • Promote Amatola Water as a Provincial water utility • Provide support to the operation and administration of the Board • Strategy and Corporate Business Plans development • Stakeholder relationship building and management • Business growth and financial sustainability Other Requirements: • Ability to think strategically • Ability to build a team • Ability to influence and motivate others • Ability to communicate • Ability to develop others • Computer literacy, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint • Valid unendorsed driver’s license If you have not heard from us within 60 days after the closing date, you may regard your application as unsuccessful.
