Programmes we Offer
EThekwini Municipality is committed to promoting and supporting access to quality and relevant integrated training interventions, career development and skills opportunities through a series of programmes. Some of the programmes that we offer are: Experiential Learning This is part of the schools educational programme where learners experience the world of work. It is short term ie. A five day placement of secondary school learners with employers. Learners are placed with employers to observe and learn – not to undertake activities which require training and expertise. This programme targets Grades 10 -12 learners. In – Service Training This programme targets students who are currently studying and who are required to undertake practical’s to complete their qualification. Students benefit through gaining ‘real life’ work exposure for a period of 6-12 months. |

Work Experience
Work experience placements are specifically designed for recently graduated, unemployed people who are between the ages of 18 -35, residing within the eThekwini Municipal area.
Internships:
This programme is designed to assist graduates and/or post graduates who are required register with a professional body in order to practice their profession. Candidates must be between the ages of 18-35 and reside within the eThekwini Municipal area.
Learnerships:
A great way to gain valuable on the job experience. Our learnerships consist of a structured theoretical learning component and practical work experience and is designed to enable learners to navigate across diverse employment contexts. Our learnerships culminates in a qualification that is registered with SAQA.
Apprenticeships:
Apprenticeships is a combination of theory learning and on the job training. This type of training can last from 2-4 years depending on the programme and provides you with an opportunity to earn while you learn.
Student Bursaries (Loan Student Scheme)
This scheme provides for the granting of bursaries in areas that include, but are not limited to Architects, Town Planners, Quantity Surveyors, Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Land Surveyors and Professional Valuers.
