REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES Qualifications A Master’s degree in Public Administration/Management or Master’s degree in Business Administration / Leadership or Master’s degree in Museum Management or equivalent qualification. Experience • Ideally 10 years’ experience of which preferably 5 years must be at a Senior / Executive Management level. • Experience in the museum and heritage sector will be an important advantage. • Experience in managing within a highly unionised work environment. • Experience in stakeholder management and partnership establishment, development and maintenance. Skills • Analysis & problem solving • Negotiation • People management • Time management • Decision making • Communication and facilitation skills • Relationships management • Networking • Fund raising • Programme and project management • Computer literacy KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS inter alia: - • Strategic Leadership and Governance: Contribute to overall strategic management and planning for Ditsong: Museums of South Africa as member of Exco; Develop and implement Military History strategy and operational plans. • Museum Operations: Ensure efficient and effective museum operations; Provide oversight to the museum operations; Establish and implement income generating programme and mobilise resources for the museum. • Curatorial Services: Facilitate effective and efficient collection management; Guide, direct and oversee the curating and unlocking of collection assets; Facilitate effective and efficient conservation management. • Practice Management: Ensure that necessary systems, processes, policies and procedures and infrastructure (operations) are in place; Manage divisional budget; Manage divisional financial sustainability; Coach and Mentor staff; Ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements; Encourage generation/sharing of ideas and knowledge; Encourage entrepreneurial thinking; Guide the implementation of codes of ethics; Guide the implementation of ICOM standards. • Performance Management: Facilitate the development of the Annual Performance Plan (APP) for the division; Collect, validate division performance data; Monitor divisional performance and provide suitable interventions to achieve annual targets; Report on performance of the division. The entity is seeking to appoint a dynamic South African citizen with relevant experience as Manager Executive Support. The position will operate from the Head Office in Pretoria. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Degree in Business Science, Management Science or Strategic Studies or equivalent qualification. Post-graduate qualification such as MBA or Strategic Studies field will be an added advantage. 6-10 years relevant experience of which 3 must be at senior level in strategy formulation, performance management and controls, strategic planning or management service, or capacity and risk management.
