WALTER SISULU UNIVERSITY (WSU) Walter Sisulu University is a multi-campus, comprehensive University, with its seat at its Nelson Mandela Drive campus in Mthatha. The University has four campuses in Mthatha, Butterworth, Buffalo City and Queenstown. Applications are hereby invited for the following position based in Butterworth Campus. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT DEPARTMENT OF OPERATIONS AND ICT SERVICES SENIOR CAMPUS SECURITY OFFICER (P8) PERMANENT REF NO: WSU-BTW2025/003 The aim of the position is to coordinate and provide effective security control for the Campus. This includes safeguarding and protection of lives, property and information within the premises of WSU Butterworth Campus. Qualifications: Diploma in Security Management/Police Administration/Investigation or similar and equivalent qualification (within the security cluster). Valid Driver’s licence code 8. PSIRA Grade A certificate. Experience: Minimum five years’ experience as security officer, of which: Two years must have been in guarding and patrolling. Three years must have been at supervisor/manager level and conducting investigations. No criminal record:-
Key Performance Areas: Develop and implement preventative measures against incidents, theft, damage to property, injury to persons and other risks. Assess security risks and ensure that proportionate measures are in place to protect staff, students and visitors, buildings and other assets in the Campus. Supervision & Control: Supervision and scheduling of personnel on shifts, access or egress Control; guarding and patrolling of the site and security equipment. Documentation and Document Control: inspection of all security documentation and registers for completeness and correctness. Document all incidents and prepare monthly reports (or as and when required) for the Campus and Institutional management. Any other duties assigned by Line Manger. Skills and Competencies Required: Good communication (written and verbal) and analytic. Computer literate (be able to use MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, teams). Report writing skills. Ability to plan for emergency and incident management. Ability to resolve conflict.
