INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN BIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST (ANATOMY) (P10) PERMANENT REF NO: WSU MTHFMHS-EXT 2025/1 Qualifications: • Minimum of an undergraduate qualification (Diploma, BSc, BMed or B Tech) in any relevant medical sciences field with demonstrable knowledge and skills in histology and histological techniques. Experience: • Minimum of two (2) years working experience in higher education, clinical or research environments or show evidence that during the degree training, relevant skills in the field were developed. Key Performance Areas • Organizational skills in laboratory administration and work, manage equipment and take care of the lab and its contents. • Teach post-graduate students research techniques. • Capability to work in and to learn special laboratory research methods in Histology. • Assist in the Histology Practical Classes (undergraduate students) • Do literature search for ongoing research projects in the department. Skills and Competencies Required: • Skilled in tissue processing, staining and special techniques to study samples of tissue. • Organise dissection space and ability to supervise student dissection labs. • Capability to be proactive in self-development and development of the workplace. • Teaching in PBL environment an added advantage • Decision-making and problem solving. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RE-ADVERTISEMENT FACULTY OF NATURAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES SENIOR LECTURER: PHYSICS-P7 PERMANENT REFERENCE NO: WSU MTHFNS-EXT 2025/2 Qualification: • Doctoral Degree or PhD majoring in Statistical Physics/ Mechanics and /or Quantum Physics/ Mechanics (NQF level 10) • Research in Computational fields will be considered an advantage. Experience: • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience lecturing Statistical Physics/ Mechanics and /or Quantum Physics/ Mechanics at an institution of higher learning. • Evidence of a track record of publications in accredited scholarly channels or ongoing research with a minimum of five (5) publications in DHET accredited journals in the last three (3) years • Evidence or proven track record of completed successful supervision at the level of Honours or equivalent. • Proof of involvement in community engagement projects/activities. • High academic and professional standing. Key Performance Areas: ● Prepare and deliver lectures to, and assess, both undergraduate and post graduate students in Statistical Physics/ Mechanics and /or Quantum Physics/ Mechanics ● Prepare and regularly update curriculums and course material for lectures in accordance with SAQA, CHE, and DHET requirements and maintain quality assurance. ● Coordinate all student programmes within the department as per required standard operating requirements. ● Participate in departmental activities as required, including research, continuous professional development, Community engagement, partnerships, and collaboration strengthening. • Contribution to teaching and learning, research, as well as community engagement strategy. • Contribute towards Faculty and Departmental research initiates. • Contribution to curriculum design and development of under to postgraduate programmes. • Contribute to Academic citizenship and provide Faculty and University service. • Assist with Academic administration and Quality Assurance initiatives. • Contribute to envisaged students graduate attributes. • Coordinate departmental membership in professional bodies. • Ability to initiate action and operational research on clinical platform. • Supervise postgraduate students. • Act as external examiner for postgraduate dissertation/ thesis. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RE-ADVERTISEMENT FACULTY OF NATURAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES HERBARIUM CURATOR (P7) PERMANENT REF NO: WSU MTHFNS-EXT 2025/1 Qualifications: • PhD Degree • Degree in Plant Higher Plants Systematics/Taxonomy or Plant ecology or ethnobotany other relevant degree qualification. • 5 years working experience preferably in a Tertiary Education Institution. • Working in an Herbarium will be an added advantage. • Computer Literate: MS Office, Access/ Database, Internet, and email. Experience: • Minimum of 5 years working as an Herbarium Curator. Key performance areas: • Reports to the Head, Biological & Environmental Sciences • Takes care of the functional aspects of the Herbarium. • Co-ordinate meetings, compile and disseminate the agenda and minutes to the relevant stakeholders. • Liaise with the with departmental lecturers and other relevant units as appropriate. • Undertake field collection of plant specimens in the Transkei area for curation. • Process and preserve plant specimens for identification. • Proficient in relevant software database tools for Plant curation. • Identify Plant specimens for future research purposes. • Lecture courses in Plant Systematics/Taxonomy/Ecology at undergraduate /postgraduate levels where the need arises. Skills/Competencies • Excellent computer skills and competence with MS Office. • Excellent communication skills, organising, planning and presentation skills. • Ability to work with staff, postgraduate & undergraduate students. • Ability to effectively manage the curation of plant specimens. • Ability to work with curators of other tertiary institutions and Government establishments. • Excellent skills in preserving plants within controlled environments (Herbarium). • Ability to interact with stakeholders from different backgrounds. • Ability to grow the Kei Herbarium in terms of output (new specimens’ curation and upgrade the current state of the Herbarium). • Maintain Kei Herbarium as an accredited establishment.
