The successful incumbent will be required to provide financial advisory, professional and efficient administrative services to students and other stakeholders. The incumbent will provide financial, administrative, student and secretarial support to the College Student Funding and Academic Services’ Office. The duties will include; engaging with sponsors, NSFAS and academic/administrative offices; facilitating and assisting with NSFAS and other bursaries’ queries, claims and applications and facilitating fee remission processes. The incumbent will also be expected to undertake general administration, dealing with email and telephonic queries, assisting students requiring financial aid and financial aid advice, and any other tasks as delegated by the Senior Advisor/Student Funding Officer. The ideal candidate should be passionate about technology and be knowledgeable in computer hardware, networks, and software applications, have a knack for organisation, and ready to take on a variety of responsibilities. As part of a small technical team, the successful candidate will use his/her technical knowledge coupled with problem solving and diagnostic skills to assist the School with ongoing maintenance of the computing systems in use in the School. Key Responsibilities: Provide diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of PC hardware and software in the various undergraduate and postgraduate laboratories across the School. Help maintain and organize IT equipment in various storage areas, ensuring equipment and supplies are efficiently organized and easily accessible. Assist with inventory management and audits, ensuring accurate records of all IT assets. Assist with the maintenance and organisation of network cables and equipment in the server room. Collaborate with the team to plan and execute IT projects. Assist with providing first-line technical support to the large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, staff and visiting academics in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. Diagnosing computer hardware and software problems across various platforms is an essential requirement of the job. The successful candidate will use his/her technical knowledge coupled with problem solving and diagnostic skills/ability to assist the technical team with ongoing user support and maintenance of the numerous computing infrastructure and systems in place. As part of a small team, he/she will be required to attend to the various technical aspects of ensuring the smooth running of the School’s various undergraduate, honours and postgraduate teaching and research computing laboratories and associated computing infrastructure. The day-to-day aspects of the job include inter alia, configuring, and troubleshooting a heterogeneous mix of computer hardware devices; installing, configuring, testing rolling out, and troubleshooting software issues; responding to exception reports, error logs and alerts; and to provide hands-on technical advice to the large number of students and staff using the facilities. In addition, the incumbent will use their technical knowledge coupled with problem solving and diagnostic skills to assist the technical team with ongoing maintenance of the numerous computing infrastructure and backend systems in place throughout the School.
