ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
 
To maintain the integrity of financial information, compliance with IFRS, TCTA’s policies and procedures and applicable legislation, in support of sound financial control and discipline.
 

 
THE KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS OF THE ROLE IN FOCUS, ARE:
1. Responsible for monthly reconciliations:
• Prepare the monthly reconciliation as set out in the reconciliation register for all projects.
• Ensure that reconciliations are complete and accurate and that reconciling items are flagged and escalated
• Submit reconciliations timeously to reviewers with the necessary supporting documentation
2. Preparation of reconciliations and disclosure requirements specifically required for the year end appropriate disclosure
• Review the trial balances to ensure that all Balance sheet accounts are reconciled as well as material income statement accounts.
• Preparation of the year end reconciliations as per the year end plan and in accordance with IFRS requirements.
3. Commercial Paper Reconciliation (all projects)
4. Assets
• Responsible for the streamlining of assets processes and to act as liaison with other departments (audit queries)
• Monthly reconciliation of the GL to the Fixed Asset register
• Ensure compliance with all relevant asset management policies and procedures
5. Invoicing
6. Treasury integration with Accounting system
7. Back-up to Bookkeeper/ Accountant
8. Internal controls & Year-end processes
 

 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum qualification to be a Bcom or BTech in Accounting / Financial Accounting
• At least 3years relevant experience
• Experience and knowledge in IFRS
• Experience in Financial accounting systems (such as Accpacc & Oracle), Asset management systems (such as Assetware) and Treasury systems (e.g. FTI Star)
