SOUTH AFRICAN TOURISM DATA ENGINEER AND MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST Fixed Term Contract: 24 months An exciting Data Engineering opportunity exists at our Head Office in South Africa, to join our Digital and Technology business unit as a Data Engineer and Management Specialist. Purpose of the Role With a dual reporting line to the GM: ICT and Manager: Digital Operations, this role is responsible for the solutions and architecture for processing data with the objective of transforming raw data into a valuable asset and tool for all SA Tourism business units, locally and internationally to meet their mandate and objectives.
Stakeholder Management Interface with the wider DIGITECH to assure integration of data across platforms; Engage with the DIGITECH and other business units to provide an advisory role in terms of data systems solution performance Work with the data scientist to produce algorithms for the practical application of data. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s Degree: Information Technology/Programming, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistical Modelling, Data Management 2+ years' experience as a data engineer / modeller experience in a BI environment. Data API management Algorithms and data structures ETL tools set-up, roll-out and maintenance Database systems management (SQL and NoSQL) Data warehousing and management solutions management, understanding of the Microsoft and google tech stack, include of Azure and Google cloud, are required. Must have experience with programming languages such PL/SQL coding Experience should include DB design (modelling and normalisation), capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back-up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies Ideally Oracle Certified DB Professional & or Microsoft SQL certification Knowledge and understanding of: Government priorities and imperatives Python, Java, and Scala programming language skills Understanding the basics of distributed systems such as Hadoop Visit us @ www.southafrica.net Detailed CV to be sent to : hr@southafrica.net Closing date: 28 September 2021 Important note: People with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
