Vacancy: Specialist Scientist, Permanent Post Unit/Directorate: Centre for Tuberculosis Research Region: Cape Town Closing date: 14 February 2021 The Centre for Tuberculosis Research (CTR) is an intramural SAMRC Centre partnered with Stellenbosch University and is focused on Tuberculosis research, with an emphasis on the South African situation. The CTR aims to improve the health status and quality of life of the population through the generation of new knowledge and apply that to health oriented research aimed at reducing incidence and prevalence by diagnosing and treating appropriately and by measures aimed at prevention. A position for a Specialist level scientist is currently available for appointment at the CTR based at Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. We are looking for a dynamic, established researcher to enhance the CTR’s research in tuberculosis (TB). The candidate will take part in and lead independent research that will result in the production of multiple, internationally recognised scientific outputs, the supervision of post graduate students and the generation of income (through grants, contracts). The candidate will assist in the scientific leadership of the CTR. The position will be on SAMRC conditions of service. Key responsibility Areas Duties:
A salary in the region of R1 035 623 per annum, cost-to-company will be negotiated in consideration of experience and qualifications.
