SABS is a statutory body that was established in terms of the Standards Act, 1945 (Act No. 24 of 1945) and continues to operate in terms of the latest edition of the Standards Act, 2008 (Act No. 8 of 2008) as the national standardisation institution in South Africa, mandated to: Develop, promote and maintain South African National Standards (SANS. Promote quality in connection with commodities, products and services. Render conformity assessment services and assist in matters connected therewith.

Accountable for but not limited to the following functions:
Strategic Leadership: • Lead the development, management and execution of the SABS overall strategy and lead the conceptualization of the overall strategy, policy and decision-making direction of the organisation to ensure the successful execution of the SABS mandate.
Key Stakeholder Relations Management: • Lead the writing and delivery of key messages for public and community relations issues and events • Ensure that various communication tools and mechanisms are created in order to promote the SABS brand internally and externally and to ensure brand ambassadorship • Manage stakeholders including regional / international structures through strong networking and collaboration expertise • Provide technical support and advocacy on related matters to the organisation and relevant stakeholders
People Management: • Drive the management of human capital assets through employee engagement, empowerment, skills development and retention and succession planning within the organization • Lead and cultivate an environment where employees respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all processes, procedures and practices.
