ROBBEN ISLAND MUSEUM An Agency of the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture CHIEF INFRASTRUCTURE OFFICER 5 (Five) Years Fixed Term Contract [Performance Based] Salary Package: R 1 356 769 - R 2 035 153 (TCTC) The above-mentioned position is available in the Infrastructure & Facility Management Department at Robben Island Museum. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will be responsible to ensure that the strategic goals and objectives of I & FM are aligned with RIM’s objectives as outlined in the Integrated Conservation Management Plan (ICMP) and the Business Operating Model. To provide outstanding leadership for the infrastructure department to deliver services and functions in accordance with the organisation’s strategic objectives, policy, budgets, asset management plans and statutory requirements.
Motivate departmental staff to support RIM’s objectives;
Ensure that a Health and Safety Plan is in place; Assist with the development of the Disaster Risk Management Plan; Willingness to assist colleagues in the executive and undertake jobs as tasked by the CEO; Participation in programmes that ensure the promotion of RIM values as a business. Duties and Responsibilities: To ensure that the strategic goals link with all the critical functional areas in the organisation. To afford RIM’s Executive and Management strategic information and insight for appropriate strategic guidance to the department. To ensure RIM’s facilities; being buildings, bulk services, hard and soft landscaping, transport networks, vehicles, cleaning and security systems are managed and maintained in an efficient and effective manner, and to the highest possible standards. To ensure that RIM facilities, in all locations, are operated within safe health and safe occupational parameters, and that appropriate disaster mitigation and management systems are in place. To guide and manage the implementation of all building works. To ensure that building management systems and technologies are to the highest standards and that proper manuals, guarantees, permits, warrantees, certificates, drawings and diagrams are in place. Serve on the Executive Management Committee Provide strategic leadership to the Department. Prepare performance reports and present at Council, Department of Sports Arts & Culture, Treasury, Parliament and any other relevant authorities. Financial management in accordance with the PFMA, Treasury regulations and all other requirements. Performance Management and Evaluation Ensure compliance with the ICOM Code of Ethics for Museum and standards in respect of site maintenance.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or equivalent, and registration with the relevant professional institute A business qualification will be an added advantage.
