PAN SOUTH AFRICAN LANGUAGE BOARD (PANSALB) Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) is a statutory body established in terms of Act 59 of 1995 (as amended) for, inter alia, the creation of conditions for the development and for the promotion of equal use and enjoyment of all the official South African languages. PanSALB seeks to appoint results-driven, assertive and dedicated individuals to fill the following position at our Organisation EXECUTIVE HEAD: LANGUAGE SERVICES (RE-ADVERTISEMENT) Five (5) years fixed term employment contract The advertisement which was placed in the City Press and the Star on March 2019 with the closing date of 29 April 2019 has been withdrawn with immediate effect. Key Performance Areas: The successful applicant will be expected to perform, inter alia, but not limited to the following key areas of responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership in the promotion, ensuring respect for, and creation of conditions for the development of languages as stipulated in the Constitution. Provide strategic leadership in the financial and management of the PLCs, NLBs, and NLUs. Ensure reasonable protection of the Language Division’s assets. Ensure that monitoring and evaluation tools are developed for compliance to Norms and Rules and performance of PanSALB Structures. Facilitate the drafting of Service Level Agreements, Memoranda of Association through the Legal Desk of PanSALB. Research and harvest words for corpus development in the province. Revision and/or development of spelling and Orthography Rules and verification and authentication of terminology. Ensure effective and efficient financial and risk management and internal control within the Language Division. Provide strategic leadership to direct reports and staff members within the Language Division. Appointment of successful candidates will be strictly subject to the result/ outcome of Personnel Suitability Checks. PanSALB reserves the right not to make appointments.
