MEDIA DEVELOPMENT AND DIVERSITY AGENCY (MDDA) RE-ADVERTISEMENT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Applications are invited from suitably qualified, competent and experienced candidates for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA).
The MDDA offers a competitive salary. The position is based in Parktown, Johannesburg, PREFERRRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: NQF Level 8, a post-graduate qualification in Administration or Commerce or Law or Development/Media studies PREFERRRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: ●At least ten years senior management experience in the Broadcasting or Media industry, of which five years should be at Executive Management. ●Extensive knowledge and understanding of the media sector, particularly in South Africa.Experience in working in a developmental environment. Successful track record in formulating and implementing organizational strategy and corporate governance systems. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: As the Accounting Officer, the CEO will be responsible for ensuring that the Agency delivers on the following strategic objectives: ●Provide strategic leadership to the entity. Adhere to legislative requirements, including the PFMA●Ensure compliance with applicable legislative requirements and sustainability of the Agency●Ensure sound fiscal management and a sustainable community media sector (ensuring the effective utilisation and leveraging of resources for the benefit of all South Africans) Ensure financial sustainability into the future ●Facilitate ownership, control and access to information and content production of community broadcasting by historically disadvantaged communities ●Facilitate ownership, control and access to information and content production of community print and SCM projects by historically disadvantaged communities ●Monitor and evaluate input, output and compliance to MDDA grant-in-aid contracts to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of MDDA support ●Position the MDDA as an authoritative leader and voice on community and small commercial media by proactive advocacy and lobbying interventions and established stakeholder relationships ●Expand our footprint as the MDDA by creating a positive image in pursuance of the MDDA’s mandate to grow the community and small commercial media. Build an effective executive team and create cohesion amongst the executive team and staff.●Encourage the development of human resources in community-based media projects through capacity building and media literacy training ●Champion research, development and innovation to create a media development and diversity body of knowledge.
