GAUTENG DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION MATTHEW GONIWE SCHOOL OF LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance (MGSLG) is a Section 21 organisation located in Vrededorp, Johannesburg. MGSLG in an entity of Gauteng Department of Education and was established to research, develop, implement and evaluate cutting edge capacity building programmes in the areas of school governance, leadership, management and teacher development to empower school governors, principals, deputy principals HODs and educators for schools in the Gauteng Province. • Present proposals to the GDE, provinces, unions and funders as part of business development. • Oversees project budgets, with an eye on recoveries to ensure the viability and sustainability. • Write monthly and quarterly reports on projects. • Provides programme support to and advice on multi-year district improvement projects that have teacher development and ICT training as a key component. • Visits training and support sites to observe and report on progress and to unblock barriers to successful implementation. • Conducts performance appraisal of programme managers, trainers, facilitators, and support staff on their professional development. • Keeps abreast of policy, research, and practice in teacher development and ICT training through reading, writing, and presentation of papers at conferences. • Establishes, manages, maintains, and administers procedures and processes for the implementation of teacher development and ICT training programmes. • Analyses and identifies professional, educational and resources needed (physical, financial and human). • Monitors and ensures the implementation of national/provincial policies as specified by legislation and/or other policy directives. • Leads and develops ICT through a team approach. • Ensures that the delivery of ICT at MGSLG meets statutory requirements. • Promotes and develops high quality teaching and learning in ICT. • Leads the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, marking policies, assessment strategies within the department, within the designated area.
Attributes • The incumbent should have in-depth professional knowledge and experience in a specialised field or broad knowledge of a number of fields • This would include, education, training delivery, training analysis, materials development, teacher development, teacher training, and ICT training and experience, implementation of ICT solutions to schools and institutions, research. • The incumbent should also have about 10 years of experience in the relevant or related educational fields with experience in managerial, operational, and research. Qualifications, Skills and experience required • Master degree in education, training, learning and development, or other related areas. • The incumbent should have high level expertise in, and detailed understanding of a number of different specialist areas within a function • The incumbent should also have about 10 years of experience in the relevant or related educational fields with experience in managerial, operational, and strategic planning and research • Possession of a valid drivers' license and a good knowledge of all Microsoft computer applications is vital.
DIRECTOR: ICT PROGRAMMES TEACHER DEVELOPMENT (Reference Number: TD 2/2019) 5 Year Contract Job Grade: D4 Will report to the Head:Teacher Development and ICT on all programmes and implementation strategies. Job Purpose To ensure the efficient strategic engagement with various stakeholders and the delivery of relevant quality programmes of high standards Key Performance Areas • Responsible for strategic planning of the directorate. • Ensures management and development of staff • Plans, implements, and monitors programmes. • Responsible for reporting as per institutional requirements. • Manages stakeholder relations. • Oversees needs analysis process to determine instructional problem to be solved. • Designs appropriate solutions and learning programmes. • Contributes to the budget management of the department. • Develops and oversees the development of training materials and support programmes. • Utilises research outputs to effect programmatic improvements and development. • Implements or provides any other programme or service as may be delegated. • Oversees implementation of new programmes. • Monitors and evaluates learning programmes. No. TD 1/2019 R) 5 Years Contract The incumbent will report to the Senior Manager in Teacher Centres and MGSLG on all training, development, planning, evaluation and management of ICT activities Job Purpose To manage, monitor and evaluate ICT Training and trainers. To collect, analyze and consolidate ICT training reports. Key Performance Areas Monitoring and evaluation of School and District based ICT Committees and its members • Carrying out training needs analyses • Defining the skill sets needed to perform different roles • Prepare and administer assessment for training • Managing the provision of onsite support for all eLearning processes in schools using eLearning methodologies • Quality control of material development and e-Lesson plans mediation and digitalisation • Consolidation and Reporting on all training activities to the MGSLG and to the relevant teacher development centre managers Attributes Leadership experience in ICT for education development practices • Knowledge of common IT applications and systems • Deployment of learning technologies in training practices • Training delivery and presentation skills • Effective communication skills • coaching and mentoring skills. Qualifications, Skills and experience required Bachelor's Degree in Education(NQF level 7) or Relevant qualification in a developmental area • At least 5 years' experience within the education sector • Possession of a valid driver's license • Good knowledge of ICT and ICT training systems and applications is vital • Deep understanding of content and pedagogy of at least 2 school subjects. • Project Management knowledge and skills are highly recommended. ICT TRAINERS — 80 POSTS (REF. No. TD 2/2019R) 5 Years Contract The incumbent will report to the Senior Manager in Teacher Centres and MGSLG on all training, development, planning, evaluation and management of ICT activities Job Purpose To develop, train, assess and report on ICT training programmes in schools Key Performance Areas Training and development of all relevant stakeholders on ICT in accordance with MGSLG Mandate • Carrying out training needs analyses • Defining the skill sets needed to perform different roles • Prepare and administer assessment for training • Monitoring and Evaluation of training and development of ICT capacities of schools in their jurisdiction • Providing onsite support for all eLearning processes in schools using eLearning methodologies • Material development and e-Lesson plans mediation and digitalisation • Reporting on all training activities to the MGSLG and to the relevant teacher development centre managers.
