KEY RESPONSIBILITIES An Audit Committee Member must advise the municipal council, the political office-bearers, the accounting officer and the management staff of the municipality, or the board of directors, the accounting officer and the management staff of the municipal entity, on matters relating to- i. Internal financial control and internal audits; ii. Risk management; iii. Accounting policies; iv. The adequacy, reliability and accuracy of financial reporting and information; v. Performance management; vi. Effective governance; vii. Compliance with MFMA, the Division of Revenue Act and any other applicable legislation; viii. Performance evaluation; and ix. Any other issues referred to it by the municipality or municipal entity.

Key Responsibilities • Render Legal and Compliance advice • Manage the provision of proactive advisory service and attend to all litigation • Provide advice and assistance with the labour related matters (disciplinary enquiries, including Conciliation and Arbitration cases) • Manage and ensure compliance with legislation and collective agreements • Oversee the development/ drafting of by – laws, policies and procedures, and the like in compliance with relevant legislation • Oversee and advise on conveyance and land related issues • Provide legal oversight and advice on Revenue enhancements strategies and debt collections • Manage Unit employees • Draft, Manage and co-ordinate all legal contracts, opinions, MOUs and service level agreements •Perform contract management services • Provide legal and Compliance advice, guidance and assistance to the Council structures, Municipal Manager and Heads of Departments • Oversee the compliance by all departments of the Municipality with Local Government legislative prescripts • Perform any other duty as may be assigned by competent authority.
