The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency Assessment tool. Promote effective management of information and information technology as enabler as a strategic resource. Develop information and technology system infrastructure architecture and conduct investigation into the maintenance of existing technologies, availability, needs and demand of new technologies. Represent the department at the GITO Council. Promote the utilization of technology as a key enabler for the future in delivering information and service and promote its use in the re-engineering/ transformation of government service delivery. Create an enabling environment for other managers to perform their function more effectively and efficiently. Manage the SITA relationship. Utilisation of security mechanism and ensure compliance to the relevant regulatory framework. Ensuring development and training of the members in the department in relevant information technology matters.
