Duties: • Facilitate the formulation and implementation of sustainable economic empowerment strategies and initiatives at the local and provincial level within the framework of mutual intergovernmental relations to meet the needs of KZN • Provide advice to the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs on the Department's performance, operations and the realization of the strategic plan for the Department as contained in the performance agreement • Provide effective and efficient administrative systems • Provide advice and support services to the MEC, CEOs of Public Entities in line with the relevant legislation • Ensure sound financial management of the revenue and expenditure of the Department to manage the budget as the Accounting Officer • Represent the Department at Provincial, National and International platforms particularly on matters of investment, trade and tourism promotion from an intergovernmental perspective • Provide oversight and ensure strategic alignment of the public entities of the Department. This appointment is subject to the signing of an employment contract with the Premier not exceeding five (5) years and an annual performance agreement with the respective MEC within three months of the date of appointment.
