NETWORK & SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
(R33 421.24 — R43 988.55) Basic Salary excluding benefits
 
JOB PURPOSE
Administer all aspects of an advanced, distributed computer system supporting a specified functional area of company operations, provide third line support and manage helpdesk and Network Support functions.
 

 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage multiple linked databases to include data safety and integrity and disaster recovery procedures. Manage multiple servers, workstations, and terminals, ensuring proper integration of these components with existing company computer systems. Plan and implement system security policy, to include firewalls, host and client access, file permissions, and user accounts. Conduct capacity planning, and develop capital and operating budget proposals. Provide advice and technical support to end users regarding specific operational/applications issues. Ensure software license compliance. Research, evaluate, install, configure, and troubleshoot all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives. Oversee the incident and problem management processes related to networks and systems identify needs and facilitate the training for subordinates. Keep abreast of technology changes and trends. Supervise end user support functions. 

Manage the implementation of the change process Develop, implement and manage policies and procedures. Management of all system recovery exercises. Ensure that all tasks are recorded accurately on the helpdesk system to the extent that the system forms an audit trail of tasks assigned. Ensure compliance to IT Governance framework. Describe security in more detail. Perform IT Security Management that includes Firewall administration, Patch management, VPN, End point security. To advise and keep abreast of industry advancements. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• National Diploma / NQF level 7 and IT Technical certification
• +5 years relevant experience — Technical / Team management
