CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Iziko Museums of South Africa seeks to appoint a Chief Executive Officer on a five-year fixed term contract, to take office 1 April 2025. The successful candidate will have the personal qualities, leadership skills and knowledge to build on the strengths of Iziko Museums of South Africa and drive the changes that will further position it as an inclusive, accessible and engaging heritage institution and as a cultural and tourist destination that attracts increasing support from people of diverse communities. Iziko Museums of South Africa was constituted as a ‘flagship’ museum institution in terms of the Cultural Institutions Act, No.119 of 1998, incorporating five national museums and their associated smaller museums. Since 2012 this amalgamated group of museums has been known as Iziko Museums of South Africa. The collections held by Iziko Museums of South Africa cover the fields of natural history, social history and art, with special focus on southern Africa. The successful candidate will report to the Council of Iziko Museums of South Africa and will be responsible for driving the overall performance of the organisation, giving substance to the vision and translating its strategic plans into action. PLANETARIUM MANAGER Basic Salary Range: R 525 058,16 per annum, plus benefits Requirements: Relevant Postgraduate qualification (NFQ Level 8) (Natural Science/Engineering/Computer Science focus) • At least five years’ experience in museum and/or astronomy or science environment with at least three years at management level • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite • Proof required of valid driver’s licence.
