SENIOR INVESTIGATOR: CHEMICALS AND PLASTICS, TARIFF INVESTIGATIONS Salary: R477 090 per annum (Ref: ITAC 03/02/2022) Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of a 3-year Bachelor’s degree majoring in Economics, Accounting and/ or Business Economics. One-year experience in import tariff investigations, trade and financial analysis and/or should demonstrate necessary relevant competencies developed through working experience. Relevant qualifications related to economics in the chemical and plastic sectors would be an added advantage. The candidate must have a reasonable understanding of trade and industrial policies. The following skills will be necessary: Analytical thinking, research abilities and strategic focus, excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation, problem-solving skills, project management skills, excellent interpersonal relations, planning and organisational skills, research and report writing skills and computer literacy. Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will conduct investigations on applications pertaining to customs tariff amendments and rebates. Assess completeness and verify the validity of information contained in the applications. Prepare submissions and reports, which will be tabled to the Commission and the Minister. Conduct industry research, analyse and incorporate findings and recommendations in the submissions. Conduct verbal presentations to the Commission on findings pertaining to investigations.
